  1. I have been a Twins Daily participant since March of this year. It has sucked me in, and at times it has been educational, captivating and controversial. My problem with Twins Daily is that I cannot find the time to fit internet porn into my schedule anymore. I am torn between two worlds and I am not sure what I should do? In 2003, after work, I would roll myself a marijuana cigarette, smoke it, have a Rolling Rock beer and watch some internet porn. In 2006, after work, I would lay out a line of crystal meth, snort it, crack open a 13 year old Zima I bought at a garage sale (13 cases) and watch some internet porn. In 2010, after work, I would pop some pharmaceutical pain killers, drink some shots of Hot 100 and watch some internet porn. In 2012, as an unemployed citizen, I take some Ibuprofen to relieve my back pain, tooth decay pain, and constant migraine headaches, while drinking a 5th of Vodka (yearning for a Zima) while participating on the Twins Daily website. Come Monday, I enter a internet obsession rehab facility. At least I will have my vodka and Ibuprofen… and maybe some porn rags. Signing out (If the treatment takes hold) Bark’s Lounge

  3. Dang. Not much to lament about. It is the last month of play in a uber losing season - sad as it is. I'll leave this thread post with a Bukowski poem... there's a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out but I'm too tough for him, I say, stay in there, I'm not going to let anybody see you. there's a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out but I pour whiskey on him and inhale cigarette smoke and the whores and the bartenders and the grocery clerks never know that he's in there. there's a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out but I'm too tough for him, I say, stay down, do you want to mess me up? you want to screw up the works? you want to blow my book sales in Europe? there's a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out but I'm too clever, I only let him out at night sometimes when everybody's asleep. I say, I know that you're there, so don't be sad. then I put him back, but he's singing a little in there, I haven't quite let him die and we sleep together like that with our secret pact and it's nice enough to make a man weep, but I don't weep, do you?
  4. Are you the last surviving World War I Veteran?
  5. If Boras makes this into a scandal - it is a piss poor play. Davey Johnson has been in the game around 50 years. He has seen Strasburg's performance the last few starts and the media attention on his shut down has screwed with him mentally - his last 2 starts have not been very good and Johnson is pulling the plug. The Nationals have had a plan and they are following through with it. Good for them! The Nationals still have a good staff and should win the NL East. Anything else is icing on the cake, because nothing can be assumed in the playoffs.
  6. I am one of the fans who wants to see Morneau stick around for awhile with the Twins. Note to the players: Don't him on the head after a walk-off HR!
  7. Start a new thread. I am sure there will be participants!
  8. Unrequited stalker love. Bastard Larkin! Thanks for playing along!
  9. Hey TK10. Your not an A-hole or idiot for arguing against Barry's inclusion into the HOF. I think everyone who responded really enjoyed what he brought to the table. We appreciated his contribution to the game of baseball. In my opinion he flew under the radar a bit. I was laid up in a hospital with a severely broken leg when the Reds won the WS in 1990 - he was great in that series and that was my only joy for that week in time. I hope that you can appreciate that a bunch of non-Cincy residents respect the **** out of one of your home town heroes.
  10. My bad. I thought I was on the "Fred McGriff" thread. I do believe he attempts to pitch for the Astros next season and the organization fully supports it (owner Jim Crane).
  11. Duhr???
  12. I think Kaat is up for the VC in 2014. I am aware he is not on the regular HOF ballot.
  13. Geez. You would think you would be all for Larkin's inclusion into the HOF. Do you have a gripe with his family? Did Barry's little sister dump you in 12th grade?
  14. Who would have thought' date=' ten years ago, that Jeter would be the only one those latter three going to the Hall of Fame?[/quote'] I do believe ARod will make it for the same reason as Bonds. The totality of the numbers will be so large that just the roids argument won't be able to stand up. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they are judged. It will be interesting!
  15. Oops forgot about Biggio. My guesses: 2013: Piazza, Biggio 2014: Maddux, Glavine, Big Hurt (maybe Jim Kaat?) 2015: Big Unit, Pedro Martinez, Smoltz 2016: Hoffman, Bagwell, and last but not least KG Jr. Kent and Wagner will get in eventually.
  16. Who would have thought, ten years ago, that Jeter would be the only one those latter three going to the Hall of Fame?
  17. Whew... I was starting to feel bad about some of the serious responses. Thanks for getting the "Stand by Me" bit. RBI was the better game.
  18. I absolutely think Trammell should be in the HOF so your argument is weak. Both were one of the best SS's in the game for a long time. That is part of my criteria for the HOF. The HOF isn't about only taking the best hitters at 1B/OF. Trammell should most definitely get more consideration for the Hall - as should his double play partner Lou Whitaker... if he is still eligible?
  19. Although I did not express it in my last thread post. The HOF should be for the great - and not the elite. I wholely endorse Larkin's enshrinement.
  20. Barry Larkin is a legit HOFer. Some may say the Hall is only reserved for the elite. Was Barry Larkin elite? Probably not, but he is one of the best to ever suit up and play the position of SS. One could make arguments on a few players that reside in the Baseball Hall of Fame. Barry Larkin is not one of them.
  21. I think, if I am reading what you wrote correctly is that a Clemens return could push back his HOF eligibilty. It would be a wise play on his part as there is no way he will be voted in for the 2013 class. Some say people have a short memory, and that may be true with most situations, but I do not think people will forget the Clemens debacle. Meaning no HOF for Clemens ever. Who do think gets in next year? My guess is Piazza for sure - 50/50 on Bagwell.
  22. It's nice to see a walk off HR, especially when it is Morneau. I would have been a bit more exciting if Mauer hit a walk off HR, thus completing hitting for the cycle. Oh well, a great end result either way. When Morneau was trotting around the bases, I was a bit concerned with the home plate celebration - don't slap Morneau's head! Some did. You have be careful. Morneau is starting to resemble his former self. Punch him in the gut or something - stay away from his noggin.
  23. After reading some things about Roger Clemens lately. I believe there might be a chance we have two 50 year old major league baseball players who are activated on a MLB roster at the same time in 2013. This would be a first (if my information gathering is correct). The other player would be Jamie Moyer. I have not seen anything that indicates he wants to call it quits and I feel fairly confident some MLB team will throw him an invite to Spring Training, after that anything could happen? As a baseball fan, I would hate to see a Clemens return, but it is appearing that the conditions will be right for that to happen with the Houston Astros. They are jumping to the American League and their team is pretty awful. Getting a home state hero like Clemens - might put more rear ends in the seats. In fact, I feel like this is a done deal - it will happen. Moyer is the wild card. I understand this topic is somewhat meaningless, but I thought I'd throw it out there. Maybe someone has something interesting to say about it.
  24. A word of advice - don't sell your soul the to bell whistle of sabremetrics - the game means way more than that. I realize that, but my eyes watching/following McGriff tell me he wasn't a hall of fame player, his basic stats tell me the same, then when we include WAR etc it becomes even more clear! I'm not saying he wasn't good, hes just not a hall of famer. Okay then. We just disagree and we'll leave it at that. Good night to you.
  25. 48.2 career WAR (169th overall) It's nothing like Bert IMO. A word of advice - don't sell your soul the to bell whistle of sabremetrics - the game means way more than that.
