  1. Is this sarcasm? I'd love to read that also, as there are thousands of players who sacrificed greatly but never made it. (A la Costner in Bull Durham). But as a twins forum I think it's best to focus on outcomes, and performance-wise, he and the other 2010's simply didn't produce.
  2. It's not just Jay. The 2010's, aside from Buxton and Berrios were brutal 1st round picks. Hitting on 2 of 15, not good.
  3. correct. No. He has not had enough AB's to qualify as a starter so not sure where this top 20 stat comes from. Is it anyone with at least 1 plate appearance? nothing better than watching his bombs, much like Sano, Gallo, Arcia and yes I do tune in when he's up vs France, Bader, Clemons, etc. But he needs to turn it up, in a hurry. Hoping he does.
  4. Agree to disagree on his impact for the timing of our current roster. Fan apathy is enormous, (the worst I've seen in 10-15 years). If he brings the value you believe these teams would give, I simple say 'take it'. Roll with Larnach, E-Rob and Jenkins for 2-3 years. If Wallner puts more buts in seats than Larch's trade trevor. If there is a return to get, take it. In fairness, trading Wallner would admittedly be trading at an extremely low point. Appreciate the conversation
  5. You may want to check this year. But feel free to use the stats that fit your position. I absolutely hope Wallner can turn it around. But his age and production don't equate to a starting player on an above average team. We simply disagree he is integral to the twins future.
  6. How long must the longer term view be taken? 1 month, 1 year, 34 years? The team is vastly undermanned, has terrible coaching and Apathetic leadership. And what is 'fine' for Wallner, almost 28 and has 35 career home runs? and his strength is power. Does he get a 'longer view' since he's one of us? His stats are comparable to Kody Clemons. the team should sell any positive asset and rebuild. Not sure Wallner is one or not.
  7. Great article, thank you. Hope I'm wrong but I've never understood the Raya steam. CP's durability is a big red flag and Soto's injury is really concerning. and those are our 3 'high end' prospects. The should absolutely be sellers and hope to hit on some top talent to replenish. Duran would bring a very strong return to help jumpstart it.
  8. I would love nothing more than for him to turn it around because right now he has very little trade value and will be entering his age 28 season. His long home runs are a pleasure to watch, for sure, but more is needed from a corner OF'er on a winning team.
  9. He is almost 28 and has 35 career home runs. Would I love to see him in a home run contest or hitting slow pitch softball? Absolutely. But it's not translating to MLB. Next man up please, regardless of where he is from.
  10. When Wallner goes back to back 40 HR seasons at the age of 23/24 (or any age) you let me know. Wallner is not a starting player on a decent team and if he is truly as you say 'good to great' (was that sarcasm?).....trade him like right now.
  11. Castro is basically the same age as Larnach and Wallner yet we give L&W all the time in the world to figure it out. So yes, age matters. If Wallner wasn't 'one of us' he would be seen as a poor man's joey Gallo. I would be interesting to see the ages of Hrbek, Puckett, Gagne, Gaetti, Brunansky and others from that era when they made their debut. Pretty sure they cut their teeth at Majors, not AA. L&W have had their time to prove themselves.... let's move on
  12. I see what ur saying but slightly disagree. We are right in the middle, mediocre.... and that is an even worse place to be than awful. Middling is exactly the time to blow it all up, hope to re-tool and give it a run in 2-3 years. Fans are apathetic anyway so get a bunch of fresh blood while you can. If not, we'll be having the same discussion in 2 years. No one should be off limits.
  13. Please tell me this is sarcastic. Alcala a decent young arm?
  14. It was Lewis, Greene, Mackenzie Gore, Brendan McKay and Kyle Wright. All seen as 1/1 possibilities that year. I believe Lewis came cheapest so hard to argue the pick.
  15. Sadly it was much of this TD staff and author of this article. The talk of the failed deadline went on for days/weeks here, and when Cleveland picked up Giolito, etc the vitriol escalated. I love this site but have never seen the main writers so negative and misguided.
  16. You are a great writer, this is a very fair article and it's nice to see some positivity after a while. Enjoy the ride!
  17. Perhaps. Maybe, maybe not 😁162 game season, gotta let it play out. That's what we love about baseball. Could turn on a dime still but it's been a fun ride!
  18. NN is normally so good but wish he had the ability to realize he has missed on trade deadline and waiver wire. 180 degrees off. But he's all in. Sometimes article writers need to understand they missed. I haven't seen that admission yet
  19. The multiple articles from this writer about the trade deadline are so old. Wish he had a proposal we should have made AND the other team would have accepted. The trade market was bare, or expensive. My god it's sept, we're up 5 and players coming back. Try to get over your odd opinion of the deadline (article writer), which may or may not be correct. Try to enjoy the 1st place ride
  20. Follow but never post. It's a 162 game season. Kepler this, Gallo that, can't hit lefty's, front office (surprised how TD staff has been so critical), Rocco trash, Arraez trade a disaster. Not sure how long we've been in 1st but seems like a while. People need to breathe. The banter is fun to read but division champs with good pitching have a shot, just watch (but I do wish the line up would strike out a bit less!). Lfg twins
