  1. A sad but true statement.
  2. Torii Hunter is exactly the guy you want... If it's the eighth inning of a tie game and you need a hitter with some pop. But starting a game? Nah, maybe not so much.
  3. Fien was pretty good throughout August. He's not the guy you want as a first, second, or even third option but near the back of the pen, he's been okay. Unfortunately, he's one or two slots higher than he should be in this bullpen. August stats: 17 games, 18.2 IP, 1 BB, 11 SO, 2 ER
  4. No arguments here. Either way, it doesn't matter and is pure conjecture.
  5. I'd call it the "only reasonable standard". Nothing else makes sense.
  6. I doubt Ryan would have signed Sano. I also don't care because Ryan wasn't GM when Sano became available. Ryan has obviously changed his approach a bit, as evidenced by this year's signing of Javier.
  7. I see the Twins are allowing the White Sox to chip their way back into the game.
  8. That tends to happen when a guy has no discipline and balls stop finding holes.
  9. A couple of really nice takes by Vargas there.
  10. Yeah, that's fair.
  11. I thought Smith did a pretty okay job with everything that didn't involve MLB trades. He's unfairly criticized by Twins fans. He picked up some valuable pieces in the draft and international market... Too bad his MLB trading history was such a colossal train wreck.
  12. Damn, that's bad news. The two-headed monster of Jepsen/Perkins was looking pretty good. Use the best guy for the job that night. Neither pitcher is extraordinary but if used correctly, both have the ability to put up video game numbers if facing mostly same-side hitters.
  13. Really, I don't think it matters. As far as I can tell, Rosario and Hicks are largely interchangeable in the outfield. Hicks might have more range and a better arm but Rosario's arm is accurate and his field awareness is top-notch. His range is very good as well.
  14. As we both know, there are some on this board who applaud every move the Twins make and some who decry every move the Twins make. I think it's safe to say neither of us fall under either label. I wasn't entirely against the May move to the bullpen - I wouldn't have done it myself but I could see some logic in it - but what baffled me more than anything else is moving May back into the rotation for a spot start and screwing up everything. That's where the train went completely off the tracks for me. When they had Trevor make that spot start, I thought they'd try to keep him in the rotation for the rest of the season. Moving him back to the pen and losing him during the entire Yankees series was... insane. As for the 2016 rotation, I hope Ryan doesn't hesitate to move one or maybe even two guys if the opportunity presents itself. May should be in the rotation to start the season and Berrios should be #6 on the list, waiting for a guy to go down or become ineffective.
  15. That's exaggerating things a bit. The Twins have promoted guys on a pretty solid schedule this year, give or take a few guys. They do some things that baffle me but they also do a lot of things I expect and applaud. I'll let the offseason play out before I condemn them for any moves they haven't made because the options to reach the point where May starts the season in the rotation are nearly endless: trade, promotion, injury, whatever.
  16. I get that but you're kinda acting like it's set in stone... I prefer to get upset about things only after they've happened. I don't see the point in getting riled up about something they've said they don't want to happen and hasn't actually happened yet...
  17. Berrios will be in the minors, I'll give you that... But May's fate is very much up in the air. They've said multiple times they'd like to see him start. That doesn't guarantee he *will* start but it shows they recognize his talent.
  18. That's definitely possible but I think Ryan will be moderately active this offseason and we'll see some player shuffling.
  19. I'd try to move Milone first, then Gibson... At least that's the quick answer without giving it a ton of thought. Or maybe somebody goes nuts and offers something for Duffey. I really doubt that will happen but I wouldn't rule it out, either. Basically, I'd try to move any one of the guys in front of Berrios not named Trevor May.
  20. I'm thinking the Twins didn't promote Hicks immediately because he'd have to hop on a flight to Minnesota and then turn around and hop on another flight to Houston the next day. For one game, it makes more sense to skip the Minnesota flight and have him meet the team in Houston. If that doesn't happen... *shrugs*
  21. I don't think they did anything wrong with either Buxton or Sano. My apologies if it came off that way. My point was the Twins saved Super 2 status on two possibly elite players. They shouldn't be overly concerned with doing it a third time if the team needs Berrios on the roster before that point.
  22. It's my opinion one of those guys should be put in the bullpen to start 2016 (obviously, a lot can change here) or traded. Milone seems the most logical option to me... He won't bring back a lot in return but you can get something for him. Seven starters + Berrios is too much... It's time to move an asset or throw a guy in the pen. The likes of Nolasco shouldn't stop Berrios from reaching Minnesota.
  23. I'm actually pretty okay with him getting shut down if they did it for arm reasons. I wouldn't have made that choice but I don't have to agree with every decision 100% to not get too upset about it. I'm also okay if they call him up around May 1st next season (or the first time someone is injured or ineffective) to get that extra year of service time. I'm not okay with the Twins punting until July to save a few bucks. They already saved a bunch of money by punting Sano and Buxton to July. If they need Berrios before that point and don't call him up, I'm going to lose my mind.
  24. Sorry guys, there was a hiccup that set me back a few minutes this morning so the tickets didn't go live until a little after 8am.
  25. Win 69. Game #: 2015: 132 2014: 160 2013: n/a - 170 2012: n/a - 170 2011: n/a - 177 Getting closer... Now 28 games ahead of 2014. I've converted the n/a to read how many games it would have taken that team to reach the win total of the 2015 Twins.
