This is one of the top three reasons I left the GOP two decades ago. There are literally two options: 1. Tax and spend 2. Don't tax and don't spend There is no third option. One party has subscribed to the first (though not as heavily as they should) while the other just ignores basic economic principles in favor of magic pixie dust that is created once the yacht-building industry hits maximum velocity.
I"m going to make the same comment I make several times a year: In an age when front offices are talking almost a completely different game than what existed 30 years ago, why do announcers continue to EVER use the phrase "at-bat" when referencing a player total?
I don't disagree and I hated how Gardenhire managed catchers. There's just a really big risk there that doesn't need to be taken. What I hated about Gardy was his reluctance to lose the DESIGNATED HITTER through injury by starting Mauer at that position. It was just absurd.
Oh, sure, but the Twins are pretty luck-neutral this year given their metrics. Whatever, it's baseball. I'm not complaining, it's just not much fun to watch this kind of game.
Yeah, this game is irritating because it's the kind of baseball that doesn't go your way at times. The Twins are straight-up out-playing the Mets, yet they are losing because Minnesota continues to hit rifle shots directly at New York gloves. It happens. That's baseball.
And this is why one shouldn't make off-the-cuff observational comments about splits. Schoop season OPS: .763 Schoop season men on OPS: .782 (though his RISP OPS is a pretty bad .667, but that's not what you said) The eyes lie.
Hard to say for sure. Sometimes, you square up just to test the defense and/or keep them honest later in the PA. Gonzalez came up through the Astros org. He isn't going to bunt just for funsies.
One thing to keep in mind is that the 7-day IL is pretty vague. It's almost as much a precautionary list as it is an injured list. And once the team got to three days, they probably figured "what the hell, give him another few days" for roster fluidity.
Awesome. Sano up. Sorry, I still have a hard time watching him at the plate in critical situations. Even moreso than Schoop and they're both pretty high up my **** list.
