Something I’ve looked into and is a real nightmare on a code level, unfortunately. Though it’s possible the new software has it baked in.

We have a PWA right now, which works like an app. One of the things I'll be working on with this redesign is a dedicated, downloadable app. I'd put odds of it happening at 50/50. There are a great number of tools that help with app creation now, which didn't exist just a few years ago. As for the PWA, here is how you create that. It works well now, will work even better after the relaunch.

It's plausible, for sure. I've played around with it, but I'm inclined to avoid it, as MLB might flag us for something. I'm not sure, I'd really have to read more into it.

You don't need to worry about that happening, if anything we'll slightly reduce the number of ads. In fact, we almost certainly will, though it may not be all that noticeable. One of my goals with the redesign is to reduce browser load, and one of the easiest ways to do that is dropping an ad per page load.

This is something we're working on changing. Notes & rumors aren't news, nor do we want them to be. How we treat them is very different (short, little analysis, and in the case of rumors, sometimes less reliable sources), and their purpose is quite different (rumors in particular are primarily there to encourage discussion). But expect significant changes in this regard. The two sections will remain separate from a technical perspective, but it's likely they will merge in some capacity visually.

Expect serious rethinking of caretaking. I'm advocating for a price reduction and a single tier that removes ads. I think it will ultimately happen, but with some caveats, I'm sure. When we developed the caretakers program, what we have now made sense. Staffing difficulties, changes in website operation, and other factors make that less so now.

Holy **** this is a great idea. I don't know how feasible it is, but it's going into the notes for sure. One of the things we're considering is a totally different style of front page that is effectively a twitter-style feed. This idea kinda slots into that concept, though there are a ton of details to work out.

To be clear, I also dislike X, and have basically excluded it from my workflow unless as a last resort. But we take a light hand as an organization, and I've done all but plead for people to stay off it and not use it. But I'm not a tyrant, and people gonna use what they gonna use.

There will be changes, but only on the tech side. We're toying with the idea of a very different presentation, but we're not going behind a total paywall or anything.

Since that redesign, we've added nine (!!!!) sites and crammed in more new features than we can count. It's time for a ground-up rethink of everything about this website, and we need your help to do it right.
