I've been automating a ton of stuff recently, and now that I've really dived into the site's API features, I can automate posting directly from a script on my home server to the site. Something I'm toying with is scraping the internet for Twins news, and then posting it here. This is literally a first pass with almost no refinement. Is something like this of interest to the forum? I think it's kinda cool, and can provide talking points and show you content you may have missed. Let me know what you think of this idea: Minnesota Twins: Top Analysis, Past 48 Hours 1. Why didn't the Twins win this season? Five big reasons (Aaron Gleeman, The Athletic). Gleeman argues that cutting payroll and ignoring roster holes backfired, noting that playoff odds that rose to nearly 40 percent after buying at the trade deadline have sunk to 2 percent with 16 games left. This was the most widely discussed Twins piece of the week. 2. Twins vs Tigers Pick Prediction (Tony's Picks). A breakdown of Zebby Matthews' road problems, citing a 6.45 road ERA and a .531 slugging mark allowed away from home. 3. 2027 is starting to look interesting (Tim Meyer). Meyer sees a young core forming, pointing out that Luke Keaschall is batting .276 with a .369 on-base percentage. 4. Twins Road Struggles Reveal Major Problem (SI). Per FanGraphs, the Twins have the worst road pitching staff in the league, with a combined 5.19 ERA. 5. Twins vs Tigers Prediction (TheSpread). Contrasts Detroit's run prevention with Minnesota's 4.66 staff ERA. 6. The Twins have no choice but to overhaul their roster (Puckett's Pond). Notes that after entering August at 56-56, the Twins have gone 12-21 since, and suggests trading Joe Ryan.

I just deployed a cool new thing today. I set up a script on my computer that builds this and sends the image to the site. Look at the graphics widget in the forum index, it will automatically generate a lineup image a few hours before game time.

Yeah, maybe, but one could squint at the offense and see something that wasn't terrible. The same could not, under any circumstances, be said about the bullpen. The Twins had literally ZERO trustworthy, established relievers heading into Opening Day. And it cost them a veritable assload of wins in the first three months of the season.

This ENTIRE season, all I've been able to think is "what would have happened had they signed literally ONE capable reliever?" Just a colossal failure.

We're actually working on a fix for this. It will be procedural, and involves a few more steps. Basically, we can now convert a forum topic to an article or rumor, thereby keeping the original comments intact. It involves more testing, which I'll get done sometime before the earth turns into a ball of flame and we all die.

And this isn't social media. It's not designed to be social media. This isn't a "there are people so entirely toxic that I need them removed from existence" type of experience. It kinda of goes against what makes us different from the rest of the ****hole that is the internet, and we want it that way.

I've visited the chat idea soooooo many times. It's a technological problem, mostly. Adding chat functionality while keeping it within our login system, ban system, etc. is a challenge. It's something I always have twirling in the back of my mind, but there's no easy path forward on it.

It's a hell of a lot easier to win these kinds of games when you don't take absolutely trash ABs in crucial situations.

It wouldn't be forced upon users, it'd merely be an alternative option.

It's a code nightmare, which is why it hasn't been done. A quote is stored as part of your post, so it would involve some pretty dodgy logic to try to suss out the quote and take action on it.

If you’re online, you’ve been active in the past X number of minutes. I don’t recall the exact number, probably 5-30. This is what the online box looks like to me. Do you see something different?
