  1. Given how Parmelee has started to look like he could someday be Morneau's replacement (it's still a bit of a longshot but not impossible), it doubly makes no sense for him to rot on the bench when he could be getting valuable ABs in Rochester.
  2. Yep, that's the version and it's the same version I'm running. Are you on Mac or PC?
  3. The playoff prediction algorithms are pretty much a joke. A team could have an awful April where half its team is injured, a mediocre May while they rehab, and be set and ready to go into June/July and be ranked near the bottom of the list. It only takes aggregate performance into account, which isn't much good as rosters change/improve, trades happen, and rookies come into their own. Basically, they're about as useful as fielding percentage.
  4. Welcome aboard, Levi!
  5. "Why does it suddenly smell like 'All-Star First Baseman' over here?"
  6. Looking forward to drinking lots of punch and yearning for the Rays front office.
  7. Hit the wrench on the right side of the browser window. Click "About Google Chrome".
  8. He's still hitting the ball on the ground far too often. That stat line is a testament to just how talented a hitter Mauer is... He puts the ball on the ground nearly 60% of the time and still has an OPS of .860. At this point, I don't know if his lower body will ever be right again, which is unfortunate because if he hits like that with lower body problems, he could be putting up 2009-type numbers if he was 100%.
  9. What browser/version are you using? It happened to me a few times last night but this morning, everything is back to normal. Of course, I was using my gf's quickly-aging Macbook last night and my much faster computer this morning. I thought that may have had something to do with it.
  10. We're trying to merge the communities, not create a caste system. Give it time, there are plenty of great posters here at TD and it's not as if BYTO didn't have more than its fair share of village idiots.
  11. I think Liriano's mental toughness is overplayed. When he's on, he's on no matter the setting. The problem is that he turns off seemingly at random. I only brought it up because it's hard for anyone to pitch in a city like Philadelphia. The same way I question Greinke going to a big market, I question Liriano doing the same. It's not really a slight on the player, just an acknowledgement of who and what they are. They can both surely pitch on a big stage, I only wonder if they could do it day in and day out and be able to shrug off the worst fans in baseball on a nightly basis.
  12. I'd do that deal twice if I was the Twins.
  13. "Winning Energy" is a rare, nearly unquantifiable power source known to exist only in the deepest, darkest regions of MLB clubhouses. Commanders of this mystical energy are rarely seen in public plying their craft. Rumors have it that the Twins have had two Level Nine Energy Wizards (LNEW) on their roster in recent years and they both happened to be named Mike. One could command laughter upon demand with his zany "find the bunny" magic tricks while the other was best known for channeling his Winning Energy into teammates through nude towel-snapping.
  14. It takes great effort for me to type "TR" at this point. It's been a long-running joke on the ESPN boards and BYTO and I type "JR" out of habit now. I think the joke is almost ten years old at this point. I don't even know I'm doing it most of the time. But yes, I am speaking about Jerry (Terry) Ryan.
  15. This. Catchers that can OPS at a .750 clip are quite rare. Backup catchers who can do it are Loch Ness Monster-esque.
  16. If Revere is ever going to develop power, it sure ain't gonna come from his right arm. It's hard not to enjoy what the kid is doing right now; I only worry that it might be his absolute ceiling. But if he keeps hitting at a .300 clip and swiping bases, he'll be a great OF option until he's 30 or so when that kind of player typically falls on his face from diminishing athleticism. Every day he keeps doing this, I think it becomes clearer that JR needs to trade Span. I like Denard but there is little reason to keep running him out there if Revere can do the same thing with better defense. Unless, of course, the Twins somehow find a way to contend this season... An unlikely scenario but we've seen this team do it before.
  17. I said "by noon". DNS propagation is a funny thing. You never know how long it's going to take. In this case, it was about 20 minutes.
  18. I wonder what Liriano would do if he had to pitch in front of Philly fans once every five days. He could be a good fit but it's hard to say whether he has the mental make-up to pitch in that city.
  19. I expect that he'll smile a ball right out of the park any day now.
  20. Huh. I must have looked at those strikeout stats wrong. Anyway, yes... My point is that he'll regress, not that he'll turn into an awful pitcher. Marquis was just fine in the NL as a back of the rotation pitcher. The Twins' mistake was thinking he could do the same in the AL. I have nothing against the guy, he simply has "fringe NL starter" written all over him. The NL West and PETCO Park will do him a lot of favors.
  21. That's the best outcome you could ask from Morneau in that situation.
  22. I admit that I may have been wrong about the kid. He looks like a different player. That'll teach me to write off a 23 year old player. He'll never be great but he could easily be league average, possibly better once you factor in his speed.
  23. Why should Butera drag down this team's offense once a week when Ryan Doumit is on the roster?
  24. Honestly, I don't even care if he's on the roster if Gardy is that paranoid about having a third catcher to give him the option of occasionally DHing/OFing Doumit. But when Butera is actually starting in place of Doumit? No. No, man. That's just bad baseball.
  25. You're getting that as well? I just noticed it for the first time about an hour ago.
