The Minnesota Twins announced their annual Diamond Award winners today as voted on by the Twin Cities members of the BBWAA.

Among those receiving honors were: Joe Mauer (MVP), Glen Perkins (Pitcher of the Year), Caleb Thielbar (Most Outstanding Rookie), Brian Dozier (Most Improved Twin and Media Good Guy), Pedro Florimon (Defensive Player of the Year) and Justin Morneau (Bob Allison Award for all-around contribution on and off the field).

In the minor leagues, Byron Buxton takes home the Minor League Player of the Year award while Andrew Albers receives the Minor League Pitcher of the Year award.

The ninth annual Diamond Awards will be held on January 23rd at Target Field. The Diamond Awards is an event whose proceeds goes to support the University of Minnesota's innovative research and patient care focused on ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), ataxia, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.

Cool! That's nice they got those. Can't disagree with any of the choices.

I think it's funny the Twins give an award for 'media good guy'.

Remember it is the media (Twin Cities chapter of the BBWAA) that votes for this, not the Twins.

That's right...thanks for the reminder.

This is the 3rd year in a row that a pitcher with no real big league future wins the pitcher of the year award.

I don't know. I think that Perkins guy has a chance to be a pretty good big leaguer!
