cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Sickels is currently working on him 2014 mlb draft prospect book. Tomorrow he will be releasing his Twins top 20 list but he did release his grades, no names, for the 45 prospects which will be in the book. 45 prospects gradedTwo Grade ATwo Grade B+Two Grade BSix Grade B-11 Grade C+22 Grade C Not only did he release his basic grades but he wrote up an interesting article comparing Buxton to Trout. Here is his conclusion from comparing their first years: "Other than having a slightly higher (but not dangerous) strikeout rate, Buxton’s 2013 season was very close to, even slightly betterthan, Trout’s 2010. Also note that Buxton maintained a significantly better wRC+ than Trout did after his promotion, a reflection of the fact that the FSL is a more difficult hitting environment than what Trout faced in the Cal League. In case you are wondering, Buxton played the season at age 19, turning 20 this coming December. Trout turned 19 in August of '10, so he had a slight age edge." It is worth the full read. If he is talking wRC+ and FSL, then Sano should be ranked higher than Buxton. Period.
cmb0252 Provisional Member Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 If he is talking wRC+ and FSL, then Sano should be ranked higher than Buxton. Period. What? He is comparing Buxton to Trout. Sano isn't even in the talk. Also, while Sano might have a higher wRC+ Buxton laps him in defense and base running.
