Coco Crisp... I can't believe that I've started all these game threads facing the A's and have not mentioned Coco Crisp yet. I'm slipping... He's a real nice combo of speed and power. But... His skill isn't the thing to think about... It's his name... Coco Crisp? When he gets older... He will change it to Fiber One. 2. The A's... Anyone tired of playing them? The beatings have been Severe. They can clinch the west today. I'm sure they want to do it in front of the home fans. 3. Eric Fryer... Fryer getting the start behind the plate. Every time I read his name... I think of every delicious food. Even a Snickers Bar tastes good deep fried. 4. The Vikings... The Browns have scored 24 points at halftime. 5. Cuteness... I heard someone call a puppy. "Cute as a button". I looked down at my shirt... I looked at a button... I tried to look at the button from multiple angles. In the end... I didn't get it. Maybe I'm just not a button guy.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 And the A's just clinched ... Texas lost.
James Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Wow. Not a lot of posts for this game.
snepp Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Shame the redirects didn't last for another 2 hours, would have given me an excuse not to watch the game.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 heh ... I turned to the Hallmark channel movie ... yes, that desperate!
James Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 At least Arcia hit a 3-run dinger today with another RBI single to boot.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Yeah, to make up for all the runs he gave up the other day in his fielding.
James Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 The Cubbies lost today, so it looks like the Twins are trying to keep pace with them.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 We need Terry Ryan to sign about 3 or 4 good free agent starting pitchers this off-season. Chances are there are several pretty darn good pitchers out there to make offers to. Anyone else as optimistic as I am?
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 BTW, I Am Not Sold On Josh RoenickeTM, either. Or most of the bullpen for that matter. I think it's a collection of pitchers that mostly is an asset to a bad team trying to make it through a season and not collect 120 losses, but would be exposed if they ever made it to the post-season.
ashbury Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 To paraphrase Clark Griffith: Fans like high draft picks. And we have assembled a team to please our fans. OK, need to get out for some fresh air. Be back in 90 minutes or so, probably in time for the 7th inning to resume our banter here.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Shame the redirects didn't last for another 2 hours, would have given me an excuse not to watch the game. I would like to spend 5 minutes of quality time with whoever engineered the redirects.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 heh ... I turned to the Hallmark channel movie ... yes, that desperate! I just got back from getting a massage and a haircut. Now I can stand a few innings of despair.

The ones I have read about don't seem exciting, and the Twins don't seem likely to win any bidding wars for the better ones.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 10 to 4. Not even one close game in the series. Not acceptable.
glunn Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Yikes, that's a loud out. Almost a grand slam. But maybe this bad ending for the season will pay off with a better draft pick or some new blood with better ideas.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Not me. The ones I have read about don't seem exciting, and the Twins don't seem likely to win any bidding wars for the better ones. Unless someone is a true mercenary like Greinke, why would anyone decent want to sign with the Twins, even if they were they highest bidder?
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I just got back from getting a massage and a haircut. Now I can stand a few innings of despair. Well, for me, a sappy Hallmark movie is a better excuse for tears than the Twins game.

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Baseball=no cryingHallmark movie= ... well, I'm not really sure what a Hallmark Movie is. Yes, exactly ... no crying in baseball ... which is why I watch a sappy, heart-wrenching/breaking movie to cover myself.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Man the Rockford Files are on and I'm watching the Twins. How stupid is that?
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Think Old Yeller, but sappier.Admit it...you cried.
James Verified Member Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 It's hard to watch this game when there are football games on. Especially when fantasy football games are on the line.
