And honestly, neither are really top of the order players. That’s the problem- we have nearly a whole team of 7-8-9 hitters.

Remember a couple of years ago when there was a lot of chatter about how great it will be when Lee, Martin and Lewis would man the infield.

Agreed. Buxton is out someone has to bat first. Larnach Keaschall Martin Lee.. nobody is up to it. Maybe Royce is the answer. Hopefully Buck is back soon. Long-term Culpeper is the guy.

It was super fun watching the Twins make a push at a comeback this afternoon. Too bad they came up short, but it was awesome they were in position to win at the end

And Carlos Correa was suppose to be the anchor.  Twins still owe their anchor 25 million over the next 2.5 seasons.

The team is frustratingly bad but all I've been watching for a few weeks now is the wild card race. We are 7 games below .500 and 7 games out of first place but just 3 off the last wild card spot even after taking it in the shorts at home to the thoroughly-mediocre Royals. If we can tighten up just a bit the wild card race should be relevant into September, and realistically all one can ask for each season is to play meaningful games in the last weeks The last wild card team will likely be one and done; but hey, it's baseball and on any given day! Remember that the World Champion 1987 Minnesota Twins only won 29 of 81 road games and finished the regular season 85-77. Chip and a chair and a chance, baby!

He caught onto scoring right away. Helped keep his head in the game. He loved the nuances and detail he was recording.

Takeaways:

• All week I had been yammering re: BWitt Jr. 1st ball that comes to, he boots it. Grandson just looked at me...
• That ephus-curve ball pitched at 57mph to Clemens -- thought Clemens was going to come right out of his shoes in anticipation and restraint. I chuckled out loud.
• Enjoyed watching Preilupp pitch. Thought Jackson did a good job calling the game. 
• Lewis is a mess in the batter's box. Granted, got a hit. But his fidgetiness on every pitch indicates that little, if anything, has been ironed out.
• 19,000 announced. My estimate during the game was 13,500 butts in the seats. Probably pretty close.

Glad I didn't take the time to watch this game. Losing 3 of 4 to the Royals - oofda. The ship is taking on water. A lot of it. Dead last in the AL Central by July 1st if not before.

RE Royce Lewis...

He seems like a nice enough guy - even if a little tone deaf at time - but he's totally lost and spending a couple of weeks in St. Paul isn't going to change that. IMHO, the Twins called him back too quickly. They're 'stuck' with him now and jerking him around the infield while his mechanics at the plate continue to be a mess - that's not likely to result in a Royce Lewis comeback story.

Prielipp was really inefficient but that ball coming out of his hand is electric, super fun to watch.

Agreed on Royce, the articles about quieting his movement… he looked really noisy to me too.
