Welp. I'm not counting on a win, but this game was an improvement on previous games. They stayed in it, had some useful outs that scored runs, had some good pitching, and poor pitching and defense. I'll take it as a positive. A better loss (assuming they lose) than most of them have been.

Regarding Jax, this isn't a "slow start". This is him "regressing to the norm". 

He's got a 4.00 ERA in his career, has proven to be serviceable but not dominant, overall an average to below-average MLB reliever. He's not Trevor Hoffman. He's a guy who'll probably float around to a few different teams in the next couple years before hanging up his cleats after 6 months on the Pirates AAA team. 

Expecting him to be a dominant setup man? That's just naive. Sure hope Falvey didn't bank on Jax being a key part of the late innings bullpen this year.
