Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Well, here we are. The day following a first for the 2021 Twins: grasping victory from the jaws of defeat. Having spent the previous four months mastering the inverse, last night the Twins - led by unlikely defensive hero Miguel Sano - did something right and actually won a game it looked like they were going to lose. Which means the Twins are on the verge of a... Exciting, right? Leading the charge into today's game, we have Michael "Inexplicably Still on the Twins" Pineda toeing the rubber, looking to enhance his non-existent trade value for the no-longer-in-existence August waiver deadline. Sorry, Mike, but you're stuck here. Try to make the most of it, no one will fault you for retiring next week if you feel that's the right decision for your mental health. Opposing Pineda is... oh, who the hell even cares. It's probably some cheating bastard we don't like anyway. I was going to type up a lineup analysis but saw Jake Cave in the fifth spot and threw up in my mouth a little bit so I'm done with this **** for the day. Time to start day drinking. Have an exciting game, everyone! Twins: 1. Max Kepler (L) RF 2. Brent Rooker (R) DH 3. Jorge Polanco (S) 2B 4. Miguel Sano (R) 1B 5. Jake Cave (L) CF 6. Ryan Jeffers (R) C 7. Trevor Larnach (L) LF 8. Willians Astudillo (R) 3B 9. Andrelton Simmons (R) SS P - Michael Pineda Banging Schemers: 1. Jose Altuve (R) 2B 2. Michael Brantley (L) LF 3. Carlos Correa (R) SS 4. Yordan Alvarez (L) DH 5. Kyle Tucker (L) RF 6. Aledmys Diaz (R) 3B 7. Chas McCormick (R) CF 8. Jason Castro (L) C 9. Taylor Jones (R) 1B P - Some Cheating Bastard, probably
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Looking for a series win versus the first place Astros. I haven’t watched much in the last two weeks, but I hope to catch most of the game tonight.

Heck, I'm hoping for a sweep because we owe them one. But one game at a time. And BTW it was more than just first place for the Cheaters. They had the best record in the AL going into Thursday's game. Not no more, thanks in part to us.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Obviously Cave is batting 5th so they'll think twice about pitching round Sano....
RickOShea Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Wow, it didn't take long to let the air out of the balloon, tonight. Two wins against the Astros, Sano hitting a little better, Jax looking better, etc. But all dumped, with the negative comments.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Well, Twins go 1-2-3 in the first, so we don't know if Cave's batting order placement was effective or not.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 They got a lead off hit...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 This is a good question... How many wins do the Twins have to get this season before we follow them non-sarcasticly, or with an eye to player development over winning the game?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Astudillo fields the pop up. Remember when Sano had occasional difficulty with the, despite being athletic for a big man?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 And Cave suffers the same fate as Sano. As expected?
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 We have a "downward plane".
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Inning not looking so good. A run in and 2 still on the pond with none out.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Nice double play! A little better...

Dave The Dastardly Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Got Jerry Shaver on the stereo and Gameday on the computer but the wife's about to crash my party. Promised her I'd watch a movie with her tonight.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 And damage limited to 1. Phew. 1-0 after 2.

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Breaking news! Twins sign Astudillo to a 5 year, 5 million dollar contract. He pairs up with Dobnak as the long term building blocks of the next wave of great Twins' contenders.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Just Kidding....... ..... but it wouldn't surprise me, as they just keep giving him playing time instead of someone like, say, Jose Miranda........

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Why couldn't we just got straight to the second time through the order first?

ashbury Verified Member Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Quick half inning by Pineda. Suuuure, now that the game is out of reach. Oops, I mean, I mean, he's keeping us in the game.
