Kirstin! You rock!

It's interesting to read that the bench coach is keeping track of the other team's running game. I did not know that, but it makes sense that someone would be very focused on it.

Really happy to have both of these guys with the Twins.

Awesome that Target Field is still the Grand Canyon and they are still going to ask their bottom of the order guys to make outs. Can't wait for the season!

I love it when Bruno brought up sports psychologists. I remember the big deal the media was making in 91 about John Smoltz and his psychologist sitting at the game when he pitched.

These guys may still be the best addition to the club this season.

Thanks for posting this Kirsten. It provides a great perspective about how these coaches are thinking.

I love Steinbach and Brunansky. They TRULY played the game the "right way". Can't wait for Molitor to eventually join the coaching staff, or better yet, replace Gardy. I'd also love to see Blyleven or Morris eventually be pitching coach.

Excellent post. I think I read so many comments and posts from imaginary baseball experts that I forget that the people actually playing/coaching the game know a hell of a lot more than us.

Really like what Bruno said about only wanting to join the Twins org, despite the fact he was traded. I think that is why I am a Twins fan in Idaho--just like the way they treat their employees.

Maybe we should call the Twins' struggle to develop MI "The Curse of Tommy Herr." And maybe cutting his son was a symbolic way to break that curse.

While it would be nice to see Blyleven, Morris and possibly Gladden get into coaching, you'll probably never see it happen. Why would they give up their relatively stress free job in broadcasting to deal with the rigors of coaching? The coaching salary isn't significantly more than their broadcasting gigs and they would have to work year round instead of the 6-7 months that they currently work.

Awesome, thanks! I only offer this as help, not as 'You should have recorded this.' 'Audacity' is a free, super-easy audio editor, once you get the hang of it, it's one click to record anything coming out of your speakers. Might make it easier on you, and you could sit back and listen ;) Thanks again!

Because Morris doesn't have a job in broadcasting. The Twins walked away from him without even a phone call.

Gold help us if Blyleven gets into coaching. They'd need to expand the facility to house his ego.

okay, I get that Morris was amazing for us in '91, but he only played for us one season. When people say things like 'The Twins walked away from him without even a phone call.' Why wouldn't they? He was a Twin for only one season, he wasn't some longtime Twin.

I can't speak for "people" but I think the fact that he's from here makes him seem more of a Twin than he otherwise would simply from playing the one season. And the obvious of the circumstances (and his contribution) to that one season, too.

I didn't know this.

Also an employer/employee relationship usually means you have at least enough respect for someone to call them to tell them you aren't renewing their contract. From the public report, the Twins never even did that.
