Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 I know this isn't specifically what this thread was intended for, but I'd like to use it to honor my late grandfather, if I could. He lied about his age so that he could join the Navy, as a 16 year old, in 1943. He saw action in the Japanese theater of WWII as a 17, and 18 year old. I knew he was in the Navy, but didn't know he saw action in WWII until after he passed (2 years ago). It wasn't something he talked about, he didn't display his uniform, or photos or anything. He did it from a sense of duty, and honor, and not for glory or personal gain. As did many, then and now, and everywhere between. Thank you, and RIP Grandpa Lee, and everyone else who served for all the right reasons like my grandpa did.
drjim Provisional Member Posted November 12, 2017 Author Posted November 12, 2017 I had a grandfather see some action in Europe and my father saw nasty stuff as a Marine in Vietnam.
