I think you need a lesson in distinguishing between genders.

How about a lesson in distinguishing between plural and singular nouns? \m/

MLBTR reporting Stanton to miss rest of the season!

Ugh. Not fair. I attended a couple of Marlins games last month, and can't say I enjoyed the ballpark experience because of the over-reliance on non-stop sound through the PA system. But it's a good team to root for. This is a terrible setback for them.

Some people can only handle one lesson at a time. I chose one, you chose the other.

Would it kill the guys to come out of the dugout for God bless America?

Why? It's become a stupid tradition, imho. Go back to 'Take me out to the ballpark' and leave it at that. This forced, fake patriotism is not patriotism. I get why this was done after 9/11 ... and while I'm not suggesting we forget, I do think it's time to move on.

Welp, after a few starts, I can say that the good news is Nolasco is no longer on the roster.  The bad news is that we truly did trade him for broken bats and unwound baseballs.  This Santiago guy is not that good.

I don't disagree that it's silly to keep doing it, but if it's being done, at least come out of the dugout for gods sake. Really not asking much when you consider the sacrifices some have made. Wasn't that long ago ball players went to war.

Sometimes it's a good lesson to be careful of what you wish for. Most wanted Nolasco gone, myself included, but this was the consequence, unfortunately.

It's a phony, forced thing, though. And most of the ballplayers aren't even American. I don't think they should be forced to fake it along with the rest of us.

2003 playoffs...Twins up 1-0 in the series at NYY and tied 1-1 in Game 2.  Radke pitching great.  We go to the bottom of the 7th and the Yanks trot out that damn opera singer tenor to sing his 4-minute rendition of 3 verses (slightly exaggerating).  Well wouldn't you know it that after having to wait that out, Radke goes cold and the Yanks get 3 in the 7th to win 4-1 and then go on to win the series.  As immature as it may sound, I'll always point at this newly-concocted 'tradition' as the turning point of that series.

It's still really not asking much. But you won't see it gone any time soon. Nobody will want to be the first to end it.

I may be misremembering, but my recent games at Fenway and Marlins Park didn't have God Bless America. So somebody's already been the first.

The defense today has been putrid. I continue to wonder whether a lot of the problems are a result of poor coaching and player development at the minor league level.

I'm not sure if it's even an every game thing at the places it's done. I know the Yankees do it with that horrible rendition, but I don't think the twins do?

I think they only do it on Sundays, or maybe on day games, or something. Still ... when they did it initially I think it had real purpose and was good ... that was a long time ago now. It's time to let it go and go back to what it should be. Sing it on the Fourth and Memorial Day, leave the rest behind. Or start a TF tradition of something like singing 'Lights' in SF and 'Sweet Caroline' in Boston.

I apologize for my grammar. I must be one of the people who've retained 10% or less of they'd learned.

Meh ... I was more concerned with the gender recognition issues. :)

It seems to me when we discuss, and the team comments on players, it's always offense first, defense second, even the premium defensive positions, i.e. SS, CF, and C. I constantly hear that Turner is a MLB ready catcher, but doesn't hit enough, Vielma is a picking artist, but doesn't hit enough, and nothing needs to be said about Buxton. I know you can't carry 3-4 Mendoza sticks, but somewhere you have to get someone to catch the ball. Buxton being gone, screws up the defense in two positions, and today it showed again. And 4 errors today, and that's not counting 3 more GB that were mishandled and did not result in errors.

I'm not sure the results would be any better with Nolasco. At best, Hector might do something (probably enough to win in arbitration). At most, he's gone and we save $8 million and worry that Meyer will be a stud, although I'm not sure he would've made the team next season (we needed to jettison to relieve us from the Nats trade guilt).

Should all the non USA guys come out? It's stupid.

Was at the game today, and noticed the following nations represented: USA, Dominican Republic, Germany, Brazil, Nicaragua, Australia, Taiwan, Cuba,

Agree 100%. Don't like the song, and wish it would leave the ballpark. The anthem is sufficient.

Did enjoy watching Chargois hit 97-98 on the gun though.
