Rosterman 4,541 Posted September 23, 2013 Current SPs: Deduno, Correia, Diamond, Gibson. Future: Meyer, May, Dean, Logan. Possibles: Hendriks, Swarzak, DeVries, Hernandez, Duensing. We need five from that motly crew to end next season. It would ne nice to have one 2-4 year contract guy. Maybe another rehab (Baker back) for a year with an option attached. Maybe a slum dweller that can float to the bullpen if need be and be trade bait. Starting pitching is the #1 Priority. Someone with punch will be #2. Figuring out Mauer is #3.
beckmt 2,128 Posted September 23, 2013 Possibly 2 starting pitchers in that list Correia and Gibson. Meyer and May may be here next year, but that may be a rush. None of the rest look any better than what we have. Then we need 2 FA pitchers over the next 2-3 years to make us competitive (around .500) and hope for Twins fans.
twinsfan34 46 Posted September 24, 2013 Given Pelfrey was a 1 year deal. How do you feel about the money spent on Correia? $4.5M for 2013 and 2014. Would you be happy or content with adding another Correia? Or rolling the dice with the Andrew Albers' of the organization? And possibly tanking it (as the Astros are doing and the Tampa Devil Rays did) to get the #1 pick each year.
beckmt 2,128 Posted September 24, 2013 tanking it is for low payroll teams. Twins should be better than that as the fans will not accept not trying. Since you need probably 3 starting pitchers, the low end one could be a Pelfrey, who at least wants to be here. Twins still need two very good FA pitchers.
