  1. Ten years ago everyone of these guys would be in the top 10. What vast improvement in our Minor League system.
  2. I don't know what Cincy is looking for in return. But Gonsalves, Kirilloff, Rooker are untouchables for me. I'm not giving up the pitcher with the best chance to be an Ace type pitcher, or the OF with the highest potential for both power and average, or the guy that has the most power potential in the minor league system. Due to the depth at SS (Lewis, Palacios, Javier) in the minors I would consider Nick Gordon. It would still be a hard pill to swallow. I suppose you'd have to add some pieces like Brusdar Graterol and John Curtiss to get the job done. Inglesias would look good at the back end of the Twins bullpen. And bringing Kintzler back to the fold would sure make our 8th and 9th innings look strong.
  3. A very well thought out blueprint. Enjoyed reading your work.
  4. Tyson Ross intrigues me. A second year out from thoracic surgery and still only 30. When healthy, he could be close to a #2 type pitcher.
  5. I'd consider 4 years. I compare Brian to Ian Kinsler. And although Kinsler had power this year, his batting average dipped to .236. Usually about age 35 the stats start coming down. Four years would get Brian through age 35.
  6. I would try to sign Rosario first. 5 yr deal. With guys like, Rooker, Wade, Kiriloff and Baddoo working their way up I don't see any need to go any longer than that. That doesn't mean I don't think Rosario isn't going to be special. He might turn out to be the best of the three. The Twins have a tradition of signing the guy they believe they can build the franchise around to a lucrative long term deal. Like with Puckett ,Knoblauch & Mauer. This is where I struggle. Should it be Sano. Or Buxton. Or Both? I'd like to see both signed for 7+ years. I'd even go 10 years on Buxton. But will both be realistic for the Twins? Probably not. If I have to choose, I'd go with Buxton. I'm like some others and am not sure Sano will be motivated to stay in shape if he gets a huge deal. I guess I'd try and sign him along with Buxton. But if he declines just see where your at a couple of years from now. He could always be traded at that point.
  7. If someone had told me July 1st that Kyle Gibson would have 12 Wins at this point in the season, I would of thought that person crazy. But he has really turned it around. And he is such a good person that it is great to see him having some success and contributing to this unlikely remarkable season. Just think what a full season of Kyle Gibson pitching like this would look like.
  8. I stopped following Souhan several years ago. I noticed a kind of arrogance on his part and just quit reading him. I like that average fans can comment on sites like this and on social media. But even a few of the bloggers have had moments of pompous rhetoric back to questions or comments of average Joe fans like me. They are no longer on my Twitter feed. They are not really not that much more in tune then the average fan. Maybe better at putting their thoughts into words or using advanced statistics. Most have a day job just like me and only a decade ago were complete unknowns. But sometimes they stretch the velvet rope themselves.
  9. It was a great game by Gibby. But I hope he realizes he can't load the bases with no outs against better teams. I hope he can get on a roll though. He could really help us down the stretch if he pitches like the guy from a couple of years ago. He's a really good guy and I know fans really want him to be successful just from that stand point.
  10. The disappointments start with Buxton. He has made no real progress and you can't bat a player that K's as much as he does at leadoff. Granite would be ideal in that role. Next would be Kepler. He hasn't advanced from last year either. Can't hit left handed pitching. He needs to be a 20 HR guy if he isn't going to hit .280 or above. He is turning into a platoon type player. Polanco not hitting is baffling. I was sure that he was a .270 hitter at least. Dozier is miscast as a leadoff hitter and should be batting behind Sano. Thank goodness we kept Rosario. Some of the twitterites wanted to trade him for Carlos Gomez a couple years back. And honestly there are to many stretches where Sano and Dozier just don't hit. It's harder to score runs when your only two true power guys have so many down stretches. If I'm the next manager I would take a long look at Park in 2018 Spring Training. We need to add some long ball to this lineup and he is really the only guy in the system that might be able to help in that way.
  11. I hope Molitor gives Rogers and Kintzler the day off Friday along with the scheduled day off Thursday. They are burning out and need a couple days rest to regroup.
  12. I don't blame Molitor. It was the umpires fault and Roberts was kind of jerk about it too.
  13. I get the defense thing on Buxton. He has been fantastic in that respect. But you just have to hit something to be in an everyday lineup. Hovering around the Mendoza line for a half season doesn't cut it. Especially when you have a CF with speed in Zach Granite tearing it up in AAA. Even if Granite came up and hit 100 points less then he is in Rochester he would still be in the .260's and surely not striking out 33% of the time. Buxton needs to go back to AAA and get hot again. Otherwise all you really have is a late inning defensive replacement who happens to play everyday.
  14. I'm ok with sticking with the plan. And I don't really want to trade away prospects, as this team isn't really ready to stay in the hunt in the long run. But why wasn't Romero, Gonsalves or even Jorge brought up as the 26th man in the double header to start one game and return after? You have the benefit of giving the young man a cup of coffee, get the nerves issue out of the way and they certainly would of been a better option or at least as good as an Adam Wilk or Nik Turley. And maybe even of pitched well and given the team a chance to win. The Twins hitters knew they had no chance with Wilk and Turley and folded like a tent offensively. Pretty poor roster management by Falvey while in the thick of a division race with your top foe.
  15. What I like about this list is that quite a few of these young men would of made the top 10-15 a few years ago. It tells me that the Twins certainly have some upside prospects and the they are not as bare on the farm as many think.
  16. His lack of contact is my biggest concern. I think he will be better defensively at 3rd. And I am concerned about him ever living up to the hype he was given. 29HR 84RBI .235BA 200+K's, eeh.
  17. I am hoping S Gonsalves can be an even better version of Brad Radke.
  18. The Twins front office is right to keep Dozier. The Dodgers lowballed the Twins. As much as I would like to have Deleon in the rotation. A straight up trade would be much to low to swap for Dozier. A secondary piece like Brock Stewart and a lower level prospect might make sense. But the Dodgers aren't budging and neither should the Twins. If we aren't really going to be in the mix until 2019 even with Deleon why trade your best player? And all is not lost on the pitching front when viewed a few years down the road. Berrios will be better. Gonsalves is knocking on the door. Tyler Jay may be a good rotation option or a shutdown closer. Alberto Mejia is close. Fernando Romero is a top rotation prospect in 2018. And to a lesser degree, Kohl Stewert and Lewis Thorpe are still in the mix long term. But maybe to a lesser degree. Without a better Dodgers offer it is wise of the FO to keep him.
  19. Nice Win for Rochester. But good lord they struck out 15 times as a team.
  20. His bat has always been better then Turner's. With his strides defensively he has become a higher thought of prospect. With our history of concussions, I have no problem with him getting a lighter duty at Catch. The Twins FO has done just fine handling this young man's future.
  21. I sure hope he has success. But with the way things have gone with the rest of our prospects I am skeptical.
