    Hey that was post #8000 for me. Too bad I didn't write something more thoughtful and timeless. Maybe I should try again; I can just go back and delete a post or two about how I thought the Twins should draft Mark Appel instead of Buxton.

    I agree that there likely will be some personnel who get to remain as there are a lot of seats to fill. I might think Anthony might be among the least likely though as it would mean a demotion and your predecessor looking over your shoulder. I'd think maybe Krivsky would be a likely carryover due to his experience in the front office and his background as a scout as well. Maybe Radcliff stays or even Daron Johnson in a different capacity. I don't know what happened in any of the other places with drastic changes, but I can't imagine that the whole scouting system got scrapped and they started over with completely new bodies. So my guess is the most likely higher-ups to stay would be involved with that side of things.

    AA scares me a bit, mostly because I do prefer to develop more players than to trade for them; I much prefer youth to experience. I'm all for a change and I'd certainly give any new approach a shot though. The biggest issue I'd see with AA is that if the Twins ownership isn't willing to have a top 10-15 payroll, this team won't be able to hold onto the vets they trade for very long. Toronto had a top 10 payroll each of AA's last three years, that seems like it would be pretty crucial to his strategy. But maybe ownership is willing to meet the monetary demands or AA can work with a different approach.

    La Russa, Stewart and Kirk Gibson previously have been pretty loud in their bravado about being "old school". If the Twins wanted to follow AZ in that regard, they wouldn't have needed to hire a search firm. If anything, I would bet the Twins OVER-correct when it comes to the new regime and statistical analysis, it's probably the thing they've gotten hammered on the most. Also, I'm pretty skeptical about La Russa's level of involvement. He retired from managing, took a year off, then took this POBO gig? That sounds an awful lot like trying to land a cushy part-time retirement job. He got the job before Beane, Epstien and Freidman re-defined the position. At the time he took the job, I viewed it as more of a figurehead position and I don't think I was alone. There have been more than one comment from Stewart and La Russa that seem like they weren't exactly on the same page. I think this is mostly if not entirely Dave Stewart's show.

    I'm going to reserve my right to vote until I get a peek at the resumes of the new President of Baseball Operations and GM and see how frank and honest they are about where they really think this club is actually at in terms of contention.

    I'd be interested in Cardinals employees. However I'd also like to think they could offer Mozeliak himself the PoBO gig. It would be a promotion by title and perhaps after seeing contemporaries Freidman, Epstien and Beane get the promotion, he'd be interested too. Of course the money would have to be right.

    This should come as a relief to all of us who were worried that Jim Pohlad didn't have the baseball acumen to make the right call. I feel a lot better knowing this is the direction they are going. Even if it doesn't work out, they still tried to do something modern.

    That's frightening. I've seen Santiago pitch as a Twin, there's a high degree of probability he'll never be "ready".

    I was in the boat to trade Gibson last year too. I'm not in that boat now though. His value is low but I still want to see if a new GM comes in here and tells him to change his act. He has always been labeled a sinkerball pitcher, and I guess he is, however his sinker is his worst pitch, and it seems to me he is always throwing it as his "out" pitch with two strikes. I'd bet a more analytical team would have long ago told him to use his change and slider more often in two strike counts as opposed to his extremely hittable sinker.

    That's interesting. I figured he was just drafted as an organizational catcher as you always need warm bodies to catch all the new pitchers. I wonder at what point in the process the Twins knew they were going to ask him to pitch. And I wonder how they knew he could.

    And the troubling thing might not be that this is too much information, but seeing as this is some kind of ad hoc pitching correction committee, there's likely very little chance that every "instructor" knows what the other "instructors" are telling him.

    Sports psychiatrists have been popular for some time. Do the Twins employ one? Because if a guy comes through the system and is praised for his command and work ethic, I'd think there's a good chance the underlying issue is simply dealing with the pressure. Also, I agree with the too many cooks in the kitchen theory. Let's clean that kitchen out and get a new cook. Just one. Make sure it's a good one.

    Pretty sure Brady Anderson is about 50, I remember his 1989 rookie card. It looks like Max Murphy is turning things around. I remember we had a flash of hopeful optimism in 2014 when he destroyed the Appy League, but then things kind of fell apart when he hit the full season leagues. Nice improvement at Ft Myers this year; hope he gets back from his rehab assignment soon.

    You're right that is confusing. So to be clear, we basically traded Andrew Albers for Carlos Carrasco. Right? Right?!

    Ernie Banks and Walter Johnson: the two biggest problems in baseball history. There are good reasons to keep Dozier, however should the Twins move on from Polanco and commit to Dozier, they'll almost surely begin thinking about extending him some time next year. At that point he'd become the expensive vet on the wrong side of 30. I'm not sure this young team needs another one of those.

    Well the concern replied to was giving up a reliever with 6 years of control. But honestly, I was as big of a Meyer believer as anyone, even going into this year. I'm out though. Another forgettable season, this one due to an ominous shoulder issue that has kept him out nearly all year? No regrets. Yeah, at this point I'd take Busenitz straight up for Meyer.
