  1. Thanks, I overlooked that note. I guess the Rochester bullpen will be well-stocked with Burdi, Chargois, Graham, Reed, Rogers, Tonkin, Runzler, Kinzler, Boshers, O'Rourke and Thompson. Thompson may be released, I would guess.
  2. I know that the Rochester roster is not factored into the Twins active roster decisions, BUT: If Duffey is cut , Nolasco becomes the 5th starter and some other reliever (Tonkin? or O'Rourke?) sticks, THEN Rochester's SIX-MAN rotation is Duffey, Berrios, Rogers, Darnell, Dean and Meyer, NONE of whom should be sent to AA, because they have ALREADY had success at AAA.
  3. IMO, Darnell, Kinzler and O'Roarke will be cut. The last pitcher cut will either be Tonkin (whom the Twins will try to sneak through waivers) or Duffey (if Tonkin out-pitches him this coming week.
  4. If Gardy was around, his last outfielder would have been either Jason Bartlett or Nick Punto.
  5. Zach Jones finally pitched in a ST game for the Brewers yesterday. IP=1, ER=1, H=2, HR=1, K=1, BB=0, ERA=9.00
  6. That is normal for us senior citizens. Do something and half-a-day-later forget that you have already done it.
  7. Aaron Hicks is worth no more or no less because he was once a number one draft pick. Chris Parmelee, Alex Wimmers and Levi Michael were also number one draft picks and they are nearly worthless now.
  8. It will be much easier for the Twins to replace a veteran at the end of April when he has a CURRENT ERA of 6.66. At this point in time, the hopes of Spring Training masks reality.
  9. The Twins did a great job defensively upgrading a defense-first position. Murphy, Hicks and Centeno are big defensive upgrades over Fryer and Herrmann. As far as Fryer and Hermann battling for backup jobs for their new teams, often a team's FUTURE starting catcher is NOT the current MLB backup catcher. The future starting catcher is in often currently getting more reps in the minors to prepare himself for his awaited promotion
  10. The final two home runs were glorius. I mean, they were given up by Glorius… Austin Glorius. Two pitchers that the Twins should acquire, and never will be heard a discouraging word....... 1) Damien Magnifico and 2) Austin Glorius
  11. Read somewhere that Zach Jones was suffering some physical issues and may start the season on the DL. If so, there is a limit on how long he can be protected on the DL and when that limit is reached, the Brewers may want to return him to the Twins.

  13. Temporarily holding on to SEVEN catchers must have been necessary to bullpen the 24 pitchers in camp. Once the decisions are made on which pitchers to keep, Turner, Garver and Paulino will be shipped out along with the excess pitchers.
  14. Pitchers Yorman Landa, Mason Melotakis, and Randy Rosario plus outfielder Adam Brett Walker are all on the 40-man-roster, and will likely remain there when they are soon transferred to minor league camp. Non-roster players also likely to be sent to minor league camp soon are catchers Stuart Turner, Mitch Garver, Carlos Paulino and infielder Wilfredo Tovar.
  15. I think he meant that: Rogers may be reassigned to the Minor League Camp, NOT that he would be removed from the 40-man-roster.
  16. I remember when the entire 2012 draft was considered one of the weakest in recent memory by experts. The ACTUAL QUOTE "The 2000 draft "is maybe the most comparable draft to this one," according to Mike Radcliff, Twins vice president of player personnel and the scouting director in 2000. It was considered one of the weakest in recent history" The 2000 draft was so characterized by Radcliff (experts?), not the 2012 draft headed by Carlos Correa, Byron Buxton, Mark Appel, etc.
  17. From MLBTR: "Twins righty Ricky Nolasco believes he should remain in the club’s rotation, agent Matt Sosnick tells Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN (Twitter link). Referencing last year’s disappointing, injury-filled campaign, Sosnick suggests that his client “deserves to show the Twins what he looks like without trying to pitch through pain.” If Nolasco is pushed to the pen, says Sosnick, he’d approach the front office to “directly address his feelings of disappointment” and “ask the team about his other options.”" Another option could be Nolasco buys out his own contract, lets the Twins off the hook and becomes a free agent.
  18. My guess at the first transfers to minor league camp would be: P. Landa, Melotakis, Reed and Rosario C. Swim, Turner, Garver and Paulino IF. Meneses, Rodriguez, Tovar and Vielma OF. Walker
  19. Thanks. It's always informative to learn the thinking/justification for the cuts.
  20. I checked the 2015 transactions to see that players started being transferred from MLB Camp to Minor League Camp on March 15 last year. I assume that means the same process is soon to begin for this season. Is there any reason that process would be moved up or back this season?
  21. Pitching Matchup for Tuesday's SS game against the Cardinals. Who do you want to bet on based on 2015 stats? Michael Wacha Cardinals 17-7 3.38 30games 30GS 181.1IP 153K 1.21WHIP Ricky Nolasco Twins #@$%^&@#$%^&@#%$^&@#$%^&*&^%$$##@*&^%$#@@#$%^&&^&
  22. It's no more a magic trick than hitting all your drives straight down the middle of the fairway. It's not a trick, but golf pros can't teach everyone to do it.
  23. COROLLARY -And take any 89 OR 99 mph fastball, make it move and throw it at the batter's knuckles and its harder to hit. ie.: Mark Buerhle, Chris Young, Dan Haren, Randy Jones, Jared Weaver, Tim Lincecum, Jason Vargas, Tommy Milone and Jamie Moyer all who average(d) UNDER 89-mph with their fast ball.
  24. MPH does not compensate for lack of movement or poor location on a fastball. I am convinced that NO STRAIGHT FASTBALL, REGARDLESS OF VELOCITY, could have struck me out when I played. However, MOVEMENT and LOCATION on a fastball changes EVERYTHING. That is why most good hitters, who feast on fastballs, end up bagging groceries at the Supermarket, instead of becoming millionaires in MLB.
