    Except for Garza all of these guys looked to be headed out pf baseball when Andy was done with them. Name one SP he has coached up? Thank goodness Diamond was sent to AAA to get fixed and good thing Frankie went back to the slider and old arm slot despite Andy's wishes

    You can build a decent rotation right now using guys that Andy couldnt help who went on to much better success elsewhere: Dicky, Lohse, Humber, Garza, even gawd awful Marquis found a coach to fix a flaw in his delivery where he may stick in the bigs and earn money the rest of the year.

    If Liriano's agent allows him to resign with the Twins he is a moron. He should take less money and go to a team with a decent pitching coach. Look at all the guys with less talent than Frankie who have left Anderson to get realcoaching to prosper. A Duncan, Maddox, Cooper type coach could turn Frankie into a 15 mil a year pitcher over 4 years. Also, why take the risk of working with clueless medical staff should he have even some minor pain? He is looking at one more nice contract in his career and he cant afford to blowing due to an assessment by Dr. Larry, Curley or Moe.

    Span has value, they are basically equal except defense where Parra is superior. To other teams the age, contract, concussions etc are HUGE and make all the difference.

    You cant look at Spans peak years and compare them to the player he is today....not the same. SPAn is on the way down and Parra is rising. Span would not be a leadoff hitter on a good team team. Your logic in saying Span is the better leadoff hitter because he is doing it now is flawed. Gardy pencils him in there....big deal. Gardy used to bat Redmond 3RD beacause it was the "catchers spot".

    Sorry buddy but you apparently are not familiar with baseball outside of what the FSN homers spew. Go to fangraphs and compare them. Parra has a higher obp, more stolen bases and is a gold glove centerfielder not just a good one. Like I said Span is fine but he couldnt hold Parra' jock. Add in the salary difference and concussion issues Parra is far more valuable.

    Parra is cheaper and a better overall player than Span so I don't know why he wouldnt be a fit. Is it just because he isnt a full-time starter? Span would only be a defensive replacement for the snakes.

    Add Gerrardo Parra to Bourjos as tradeable CF that are better and or younger than Span. We need to temper our expectations in trading Span. I would be happy with an A ball hard throwing SP prospect as a return since it looks like the Twins are 3 YEARS from being competitive.

    It is pretty simple. You have a clueless GM unwilling to make drastic changes to the scouting and medical departments that have proven time and again they are the worst in baseball. Until Terry Ryan steps down, this team has no chance!

    There is zero chance Frankie signs with the Twins long term. What can the Twins offer: a losing team, terrible pitching coach and a medical staff that causes more injuries than they prevent. Frankie must be traded but sadly the game has passed Terry Ryan by and he will sit around and lose him with zero compensatio.

    Everyone on the team should be for sale. By the time this team is competitive again, 2014-2015, only Mauer is a given to still be around. Relievers are the easiest guys to replace in baseball and are the last thing you need if you are rebuilding. The problem is that Terry Ryan is so stupid he will probably try to trade FOR relievers to build the bullpen and will continue to believe this team can compete with its starting 5 who are similar to many AAA staffs. If you can get an A ball lottery ticket starting pitcher prospect for either you MUST pull the trigger. Any of the numerous failed SP's in the minors could addition for the vacant RP jobs and will likely do a decent job. Heck, Slama or Guerra may be better than either of these guys next year as relievers seem to go from all-star to independant leagues in 2 years.

    Great post. Ryan has proved since he returned that he cannot get it done and he is NOT willing to make the tough decisions that need to be made (firing the medical staff, overhaul minor league devolopment, and overhaul scouting). Right now the best we can hope for is that Ryan will come to his senses and trade all the vets for pitching prospects to build towards 2015. I think Ryan is just too stupid to realize this team has been the WORST in baseball for 2 full calendar years now and he thinks there is still a glimmer of hope they can compete...

    Mauer had an HGH aided outburst in 2009 other than that he has never hit for power. Now that he is off the juice and can sit on his pile of money, we are stuck with an overpaid Judy who plays mostly DH and 1B. That sinking sound you hear is the entire franchise being dragged down by this collassol albatross of a contract.

    With this team headed towards a 100+ loss season any guesses as to how many games Million Dollar Joe opts out of due to fantom injuries?? I put the over under on games played at catcher the rest of the way at 30 games. No way he gives enough effort to show up and play the position he is paid to play more than that. He will have plenty of time for more commercials and guest appearances though...

    HGH anyone??? I have talked to several folks who know the Mauer family and it is well known that Joe used HGH to get healthy and "power up" for his BIG HR year and then backed off the drugs once he was paid. Maybe Joe gave Trevor the secret potion so he can dupe the Twins FO into a multi-year albatross contract just like Joe did.

    I figured that money was the reason the Twins didn't draft Brown and I was correct. The Twins just don't value draft picks or prospects enough to pay above slot for anyone.

    At least Terry Ryan gave the great Marquis a guaranteed 3 mil when no other team would give him a mlb deal.

    9 years of drafts with no solid sp`s to show for it and other than Span no above replacement level position players or prospects.......yeah I think most of us would be fired if we had a track record like that.

    Sorry pal but Gerrardo Parra is Arizonas 4TH OF and is a far better offensive and defensive player than Span. If a team really needs a good/cheap/young CF they will be after Parra not Span.

    By far the Twins best draft since Mauer which isnt saying much. The Twins drafts have been terrible the last 10 years with international signings keeping them from being dead last in org rankings. As Sickles pointed out in his chat the Twins didnt plan to spend close to their draft cap this year which makes me sick. If you`re not going to spend money for the best prospects how are you going to improve?

    Span will not bring any of those prospects in return. You are looking at 2 upside type pitchers who are in A ball and in the 5-15 range on their team's prospect lists. I think the best fit for both Willingham and Span is the Indians. They are starting to look like contenders and have some brutal options in the OF/DH spots. Not a big deal to trade in the division if you are in a multi year rebuild like the Twins are.

    Deron shouldve been fired years ago due to his terrible draft record but since he is a member of the twins good ole boys club he is safe.

    The Twins medical staff doesnt know the difference between a sprained ankle and a sprained UCL. I hope they hire real medical professionals to do these predraft reviews
