  1. This is very encouraging on several levels. I hope that his enthusiasm is contagious.
  2. Gray looked pretty good to me tonight.
  3. I have seen him play, but not that often this year. Bourjous has more at bats than Trout this year and they are both hitting under 2.35. And Vernon Wells is hitting .238.
  4. Plouffe is out of options? If so, would anyone claim him? If not, I would agree that he should be sent down based on batting .103.
  5. Without attacking or defending the comment, I sympathize with Darin's anger and frustration. We fans pay our hard earned money and spend our precious time to see what should be a quality effort. What we saw in tonight's game was nauseating. What I hate to see is fans turning on each other. We are united by a common mania or we would not be here. We all dream of a Twins World Series and the White Sox losing 162 games in a row. We often disagree about how to get there, but it should be possible to blow off some steam in here without turning on each other.
  6. I do like him. What about the bunt play tonight -- shouldn't he have made that play? I am probably biased because I see so many games from the perspective of the opposing team -- living in California I have to take what I can get. When the Angels (or whatever team's enemy broadcast I am watching) get a hit, they play it over and over again in slow motion, and it often looks like Paramalee does not start moving his feet until the ball has traveled pretty far.
  7. I think that your analysis is brilliant (as always) and I agree with you about Dozier. But I have different thoughts about Hendricks and Plouffe. Maybe they sent Hendricks down to help him gain some confidence? Or to give Diamond a chance while he is hot? It seems to me that Hendricks has good stuff, but he is too tense when he pitches, especially when he gets in trouble. A few games at Rochester might help. As for Plouffe, he does not seem to be focused. I was at an Angels game last year and Plouffe was playing second base. The Angels had a man on first and two outs. Plouffe fielded a sharp ground ball and causally trotted to second, forgetting that there was only one out. If Plouffe had been paying attention, it would have been an easy double play. The Angels fans had a field day mocking him after that and it seemed to me that was not focused at the plate. Plouffe has had stretches where it seems clear that he has great tools in the field and at the plate. I think that he has the talent necessary to be a good player. But, like Valencia, it seems to me that Plouffe would need to get his head (and heart) more into the game. It also seems to me that the manager should do whatever he can to help this type of player get more focused. I don't know if any manager could "fix" Plouffe or Valencia, but it seems to me that they both have a lot more talent than they have shown this year.
  8. At this point, I would not complain if they put TC Bear at first -- just get Parmalee back to Rochester where he can work on his game.
  9. I am not basing this solely on tonight. There have been a number of grounders hit to his right that I am used to seeing caught, but his reaction time seems poor -- he does not seem to start moving his feet until it's too late, then he dives in vain. I really like this kid, but think that he needs to work on his defense.
  10. I am watching the Angels postgame show, and it's sickening how they are pretending like they just beat a major league baseball team.
  11. At this point, he might choose to retire rather than have to play for the Twins. Barring that, the Angels would probably want Span, because they could use a centerfielder who can hit.
  12. This was a "signature loss."
  13. Parmelee is totally stinking at the plate, and his fielding is pathetic. Bring up Mastroianni to play first base. Even if his defense stinks there (because he in not used to playing first base), it seems unlikely that he could do worse than Parmalee. And Parmalee seems lost at the plate. I like Parmelee and hope that he can get it together. But at the moment he needs more time at AAA.
  14. Good one, and true.
  15. Truer words were never said. I am going to yell at my dog now, so at least someone will feel guilty.
  16. Bases loaded and no outs -- triple play coming?
  17. Thank god that Pujols is in a slump.
  18. Let TC bear pitch -- anything would be better than this.
  19. Happy is a word that will not apply to me until we start playing decent baseball.
  20. Why did I even bother to ask.
  21. Now can we actually score a run with men on 1st and second and no outs, or will we get another double play?
  22. At least Plouffe has broken up the perfect game by getting a walk.
  23. Liriano needs to go to the bullpen -- we have no chance with him starting.
  24. I would have bet the under.
