  1. So should Hughes come back out for the 8th?
  2. If the Twins can put up a crooked number then I will be willing to learn even more about curtains.
  3. You really need to write a book. And that one would help make a very funny pop up book.
  4. Meanwhile, Fuld is 3 for 3, the defense has been solid, and the Twins have baserunners at the corners with no outs.
  5. Until tonight the only thing I knew about curtains was how to open and close them.
  6. I want to read that. Maybe we can have a contest for the best recent shopping experiences?
  7. At least it's easy to identify the point in the story where things began to go horribly wrong.
  8. I would like a shirt with that pattern.
  9. By copying the ending of final episode of Sopranos?
  10. Yes, he might steal a hot dog from someone sitting in the first row.
  11. #5 made a bad day into a good one for me.
  12. We could have used a healthy Mauer this inning.
  13. Considering the investments that they make in players, I don't understand why teams don't spend more on padding on the outfield walls to minimize injuries. And the Red Sox should fix that nook where Torii was injured.
  14. Rally time. Bunny or rhino?
  15. I am a jinx tonight. When I got home I turned on the game to see the first home run within 5 seconds after I tuned in. I just tuned in again and the first pitch went over the wall.
  16. This is a somewhat interesting video. I wonder how often this happens.
  17. Is there a camera that shows the pitch from that angle? I have met a few scouts at games, but only when I was fortunate enough to be sitting close to the field, behind home plate.
  18. Such as how a pitcher is tipping his pitches, which might be visible only from certain angles?
  19. Fitting that Jeter made the final play. At least he won't be a factor in future Twins losses. Great game thread. Not great game.
  20. Well said. Given the past few years, how can anyone still believe that the current "Twins way" is viable?
  21. Again, my ideal approach for him.
  22. After Henry Ford invented the assembly line, wouldn't it make sense for the President of General Motors to hire one of Ford's top executives to put together a similar system? That does not mean that the system could not be improved, by someone who is also creative, but it seems to me that the Twins need a vastly different paradigm.
  23. I suspect that the Twins are sill making a nice profit, but they could be making a lot more if they could become more competitive. I don't know where the weaknesses exist and what other teams do differently to have greater success. My sense is that the Twins could do a better job with scouting, drafting and developing pitchers. It also seems to me that some other teams do a better job getting the most out of toolsy players who are immature, like Carlos Gomez and Aaron Hicks. If I were the GM, I would try a system of "mentors" for such players. For example, I would ask Mauer or Willingham if he would be willing to mentor Hicks in terms of playing the game the "right way".
  24. Instead of with the Twins honing his ability to strike out on pitches that are in the dirt?
