  1. Love that Rosario plate appearance
  2. I wanted to see someone else's staff to implode to ease the residual nausea of last week's so-called baseball
  3. I think now is the time for the ancient facepalm statue
  4. I was going to assert they might make a small fortune in Twins territory but the truth is it's way too niche a market. Such a niche I'm bot surprised the Twins aren't selling wins on Etsy
  5. I can't imagine a conscientious obstetrician would put the epidural right through my forehead
  6. I agree with you for the most part, but I was thinking of the Dodgers, who have 12 pitchers on the DL and are playing for the division agaisnt a tough Gians squad. Situations could be need-inducing.
  7. Have you ever tried to read Laurence Sterne? Or consider the King James Bible. It was written in common speech to be widely understood. That grammar is not ours. Language is an organism subject to principles of motion and change, I don't care what the French and their academy say. Still two hours to kill before baseball...
  8. In one of his essays, Borges noted how whimsical it was that in the Spanish language should apply virility to a pen (masculine ending), but not a lance (feminine ending). Nota bene that pronouns agree in gender with the object, not the subject. Fun fact: Ancient Greek has three genders! Declension is an entirely different beast. Apparently Finnish has something like 14 case declensions.
  9. Had I been present to score that game I likely would have come to rue my iconoclastic impulse
  10. At Nats Park they only offer scorecards inside the program so you have to pony up five bucks. When I discovered this I bought the program, tore out the scorecard, and threw the program away in the spirit of protest. On the other hand, I saw the Twins at Fenway the Sunday game where Milone Miloned his start, and the scorecard I bought was basically printer paper.
  11. I keep a scorecard at games I attend, so tickets stubs aren't as dear to me, but I agree enthusiastically with the spirit of this article, as would have EB White
  12. LAZY JOE MAUER WALKING IN THE WINNING RUN
  13. Oh come on ump give Eddie the walk. He needs to pad his stats
  14. Looks like Matt Harvey is going to have the same surgery for the same diagnosis
  15. I was once told regarding Houston that there is a huge network of tunnels connecting office buildings downtown, much like our skyways, but without being the subject of a Replacements ballad
  16. How old was Marcum when he had surgery? The other three examples cited were 34 or older. Is this diagnosis usually given to older players?
  17. I was at the Nats game last night and saw the Nats go six for six in steals off d'Arnaud, he of the .206 BA. It's a good thing the collective id of TD doesn't run the front office
  18. Alex Meyer straight up for Wilson Ramos. Stop twisting the knife
  19. Keep Buxton up! Faith is the evidence of things unseen and the substance of things to come
