  1. I think its early to give a grade because the season is still on-going. So I keep wavering but I am going to give them a D grade. At the deadline clubs needs to decide to sell expiring contracts,. spare parts etc for pieces they hope will be part of a future playoff team. Or they decide to add pieces for a playoff push. In the Twins' case the moves they made appear to have been inadequate to get them to the playoffs. I believe it was possible to make the additional moves that may have gotten them to the playoffs with out sacrificing too much of the future. I wavered giving them a slightly better grade - say a C- due to the fact that Jepsen will be around next year Ultimately though they failed to make the playoffs and they gave up a couple A ball arms - if you are not going to make the playoffs anyway - couldn't you get Jepsen type relievers for cheap in the off season?
  2. Clay Buchholz started a game for AAA Pawtucket in the playoffs in 2013: http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=g_box&sid=milb&gid=2013_09_05_pawaaa_rocaaa_1 I'm not sure of the rules or if a major leaguer ever made a single A Playoff start - just had heard of this
  3. As much fun as it would to have Berrios pitch I'm convinced we won't see him in the majors this year The Twins are going to cap his innings and his season will be over after another 2-3 starts
  4. The Twins don't have any starting pitcher in Kazmirs class he signed for 2/20 with Oakland and the Twins signed Icky Ricky for 4/49 Big mistake by Twins I don't see why they shouldn't sign Kazmir if the length is right Just because they have lots of SPs doesn't mean they have good SPs Kazmir may not be an ace but he's head and shoulders above any Twin
  5. I disagree with the OP on several levels. it is too soon, 6 days after the trade deadline to determine whether the Twins actions (or lack thereof) were the correct ones. While unlikely what if the Twins go on a roll and end up a game or tow out of the playoffs. Then it would be reasonable that just another move or two might have made the difference. While the players are professionals they are also people and they may have been disappointed that nothing (or little) was done. Perhaps a e significant move might have given them an impetus to play with more passion? I don't know but it certainly can be a factor. No one has yet addressed amjgt salient question: I am concerned that if the Twins would have won all their games since the AS break that the OP would be arguing that doing nothing at the deadline was the correct decisions since the Twins are doing so well anyway!
