  1. Game-time forecast: Mostly cloudy with a 40-percent chance of rain. Winds blowing out to center field at 5-10 m.p.h. Temperature around 70. ROYALS: SP, Guthrie Aoki RF Infante 2B Perez C Butler 1B Gordon LF Willingham DH Moustakas 3B Escobar SS Dyson CF TWINS: SP, Milone Santana SS Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Vargas DH Arcia RF Suzuki C Parmelee LF Escobar 3B Schafer CF ----------------------------- I'm off to work ... last day before vacation ... ending with a 3 1/2 hour performance of 'Marriage of Figaro.' So, Brian ... top that? ------------------------------ Umm... After the game today... I'm going shopping for Kuerig K-Cups. I also want to personally thank you for putting Figaro Figaro Figaro squarely in my head. Things to Think About: 1. Figaro Figaro Figaro -- I had something else for thought number one but ChiTown has Pavorotti singing Figaro Figaro Figaro in my head and overwhelming that thought. I also have Bugs Bunny conducting the Rabbit of Seville in my mind. I'm very impressed with the ability of Bugs Bunny to tie Elmer Fudd's gun into a bowtie. That takes Super Rabbit Strength. 2. Tommy Milone -- He was thought number one but he got bumped down by Bugs Bunny. His first start with the Twins was a busy one. He allowed base traffic but wiggled out of it only to be burned by the long ball. It was a little bit of everything for Mr. Milone in start #1... Let's see how start #2 goes. Now... With the last name Milone... You can't help but think of Sam Malone from Cheers. Sam's nickname was May Day Milone and that would be an obvious fit for Tommy Milone. And oddly enough... May Day Milone sounds better then May Day May. In the End... Trevor can't have the nickname. 3. Jeremy Guthrie -- Jeremy is a 35 year old journeyman pitcher from Ashland Oregon. Ashland is a town of 20,000 on the extreme southern end of Oregon. This makes it the 15th largest city in Northern California. Ann Curry is also from Ashland. She is 22 years older and has a better TV presence. Jeremy pitched for Stanford and was drafted in the 1st round of the 2002 draft by the Cleveland Indians. He was DFA'd in 2006 and picked up by the Orioles. Traded to the Rockies in 2012 and then traded to the Royals in 2012. Jeremy is a Mormon. Billy Barty is also a Morman. Jeremy is taller. 4. Home Stand -- The Twins are at home and at home and at home and at home. Royals... Indians and Tigers... Bring it on. 5. Failure -- I was playing Monopoly against a child and I was going to win so I decided to throw the game so the child could win. In the end... I succeeded at failing and now I'm not sure if I failed or succeeded.
  2. That was some at bat. Glad Perkins was the victor.
  3. Well, you actually can drive through Lake Michigan. It's called a ferry. http://www.lake-express.com/
  4. If you are ever in the area, and manage to survive Chicago traffic, that will be my treat. It's a neighborhood joint.
  5. If I lived nearby, you'd be getting a knock on your door in about 5 minutes.
  6. Do you have separate frying pans ... ones for bacon, ones for not?
  7. And there is one down the street ... http://www.chicagofirehouse.com/
  8. That was my nephew's comment, too, heh. They are in Denver v Cincinnati.
  9. All ready there and gone, sconnie
  10. Bro is traveling and bought tickets to the Rockies game tonight, which is now in a water delay, due to a water main break. Who knows when it'll get played.
  11. Because they are immature soy beans. Just boil 'em and salt 'em and done.
  12. There's a restaurant near me that serves this appetizer ... sort of an Asian equivalent to chips and guac ... is an edimame dip togarashi chips. Is actually quite good. http://www.asian-outpost.com/#!menu/c5hf
  13. I just have had so many fewer problems using a mac and find them to be much more intuitive. But we each have our own experiences and it boils down to what we're used to.
  14. There is a one word answer to all your woes ... Apple.
  15. sigh ... I feel overwhelmed ... anyone want to come down here and help me with my 'end of season' cleaning or organizing?
  16. heh ... if I had more time and a couple of clones ...
  17. Game-time forecast: Drizzle, maybe rain. 82 deg. ROYALS: SP, Ventura Aoki RF Infante 2B Perez C Butler 1B Gordon LF Cain CF Ibanez DH Moustakas 3B Escobar SS TWINS: SP, Hughes Santana SS Dozier 2B Mauer 1B Vargas DH Arcia RF Plouffe 3B Suzuki C Parmelee LF Schafer CF ----------------------------- Brian? You there? You're on! ----------------------------- I'm Somewhere... Always am. Things to Think About: 1. 1st Place -- That's what the Royals are thinking about right now. They are Currently 1.5 games up on the Tigers. 2 teams that are currently going in opposite directions. The Royals are 9-1 in their last 10 while the Kitty Kats from Detroit are 3-7. Lord Knows that I don't want the Tigers to succeed... I never do. So... I'm pulling for "Hammer and the Royals" (Which would make a great name for a rock band). If the season ended today...The Royals would be in the playoffs and they would draft 24th next year. 2. Vikings Football -- I'd have to imagine that the Vikings will draw some television audience away from the Twins tonight. The Vikings face the Cardinals for a quarter of football. In the pre-season... the other 3 quarters are played by people who won't be on the team when the season starts. I'm pretty sure that if people are switching over from the Twins to Vikings. They will be trying to time it for when Teddy Bridgewater is under center. They'll come back in time to see Jordan Schafer bat. 3. Santana at SS -- Yeah... It's a good question... What are the Twins going to do with Danny Santana and Eduardo Escobar at SS in 2015? And who is going to play CF in 2015? That's another good question. Danny Santana is our CF in 2014 because the Twins failed to staff the position. It worked out nicely for Santana because it gave him an everyday spot to earn and he has earned it. But what about SS... Escobar has also performed very well so where do you place Santana... In the future... Byron Buxton will roam in CF. Santana's days at SS are not over and the Twins are going to give him a little practice at the position tonight. SS could end up being a battle and the Twins hopefully will sign a CF who can play decently until Buxton arrives. For those of you wanting Hicks 3.0. Let him prove himself before he gets the job. 4. Yordano Ventura -- I already did a thing on Yordano... He has the ability to hit triple digits on the radar gun although I'm under the impression that he is trying to learn to pace himself as a starter. Getting outs and consuming innings is more important than a 100 MPH reading. So... He's merely upper 90's on his fastball offerings and when he mixes up some off speeds things he can make you look foolish. Teams have gotten a hold him on occasion because his location isn't where it should be yet. I think the Twins are just going to strap it on and get ready for the Ole #1. 5. My Wife -- I was thinking about my wife this morning... And I was wondering how I was able to convince her to marry me. Then I remember how I did it. I tricked her... I told her I was pregnant and we had to get married before I couldn't get into my Wedding Tux.
  18. Well now, and there we go. G'night.
