  1. Yup. I've said it before, but the last time I remember enjoying an Olympics was when I was living in Canada. None of this patched-together, tape delayed stuff to please the sponsors, only show the best Americans and/or high-profile sports and athletes. They showed a lot of it. All the 'lesser' sports. And not just medal-winning Canadians.
  2. This is prime for me. I also am very mixed on the pro vs amateur status in many of the sports.
  3. I heard they are bringing softball and baseball back. If I watch anything out of curiosity, I look for the 'lesser' covered sports to watch. But I haven't seen one iota this time around. And the only thing I've seen on the coverage this time was the controversy surrounding the young gymnasts parents and some headline about some historic gold moment for a woman and all the reporters could talk about was her husband. I don't even know what or who it was about, was just a headline in the paper and I went onto something else.
  4. I don't like the overly nationalistic emphasis the coverage in the U.S. is. And I'm really, really, REALLY glad it wasn't in Chicago. I live within walking distance from where some of the events would've been and it would've been a real pita getting around and work would have precluded me from renting out my condo for mega bucks and leaving town.
  5. Well, yeah, I was making that assumption when I said that.
  6. While yes, I get it. It's a lot of money for not doing what they are being paid to do. But was there a contingency in his contract that said, 'Unless he gets a career-ending injury ...' it technically is money he is owed. I don't begrudge him that. Long-term contacts are a risk. But unless there was a contingency in his contract to specify exceptions, it's legally binding.
  7. It's easy to do when today just kind of blew it out of most of our minds.
  8. Aunts and uncles all over the place in those ponderings.
  9. Um, this was a 4-game series and we won on Monday. But as Aggies pointed out, we will be swept in the DH, if we don't come back and win this. It ain't over ... yet.
  10. Or a big case of ... irony? Or, if the sun comes up and no one is around to see it, does it still come up?
  11. I'm actually trying to do work while the game is on. That's not going very well.
  12. I've blacked out past traumas so this is all new to me. And I will thankfully black this out tomorrow.
  13. I believe we would have. Just wasn't what it was so hard for me to imagine. Now, if we'd have passed on him, I'd be more than wishing right now ... I'd be grumbling mad.
  14. I just want to remind you that the sun will come out tomorrow. Unless it rains. Or the world ends.
  15. Yeah, well, and if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.
  16. Oh go burn a pine scented candle. And crap ... I'm not sure I can keep watching this brutality amid my reality.
  17. Aggies ... here you go ... you're welcome. http://www.thymes.com/Fragrances/Frasier-Fir/
  18. You want a woman to like kissing you on a regular basis, get rid of the tobacco. Nasty gross.
