  1. Oh come on, now we’re officially the worst team in the division? 10th in yards per game with a mishmash of below average quarterbacks playing the final 9 games and hardly any running game to speak of, 16th in yards allowed one year after finishing 31st. 14th in PPG allowed. Only Detroit had more YPG offensively and only Chicago (12th in the league) had fewer allowed PG.
  2. An article breaking down the discussion: https://m.startribune.com/vikings-quarterback-kirk-cousins-nfl-draft-minnesota-jim-souhan/600333344/
  3. They also played some good ones too. 8 games against current playoff teams. I just think the idea that we’re so far away we need to blow it all up and rebuild is a bit overdone. I still think this would have been a playoff team if Kirk doesn’t get hurt. Granted, not a Super Bowl team. But what if the defense gets in to the top 10? I don’t envy the front office this offseason.
  4. Just saw a mock draft from CBS that had them taking Verse from Florida state in the first round.
  5. For as much as we all maligned the defense, especially over the last month or so, they still finished 16th, middle of the pack, in yards allowed. What will it take to make them top 10? With a consistently top 10 offense (with Kirk), the defense doesn’t have to be the 2000 ravens IMO
  6. I mean, not for any meaningful length of time they didn’t. They all had at least one start their first year in the league. Ridder had 4. Levis had 9. I’m saying if Kirk is here for 2 years, I don’t think it would derail any young QB to sit and watch that long, especially if they’re the 4th or so best available
  7. I mean yeah, you can’t predict who would be here/good in a couple years, but there’s far less variables at play compared to a tear down when you have young guys like JJ, Addison and even hockenson. Chandler too. I would rather hand the keys off to an experienced, proven driver rather than a guy who just got his learner’s permit (lol)
  8. What complicates the Kirk situation is that the Vikings aren’t totally devoid of talent. Defensively it’s definitely bad. But offensively they are easily a top ten unit with Kirk. Heck they even finished 10th this year with Kirk missing 9 games. Do you toss all that away and hope the new guy is competent? Or do you take someone, have them sit the bench for 2 years and hope that the defense has gotten a lot better by 2026? I mean maybe the defense could be good by 2025 IF they draft well
  9. Except the quarterback position is between the ears probably more so than other positions. If you trash a guy’s confidence by putting him in when he’s not ready or putting him in on a bad team, then you could ruin the guy’s career. For every burrow and stroud, they are two Zach Wilsons and Mitch trubiskys (who was shockingly taken second overall). Even a guy like baker mayfield was thrown right into the fire and it wasn’t until this season (his 6th in the league) that he’s finally doing good things. You can’t treat the quarterback position like a left tackle or wide receiver. There’s too much responsibility and expectation. No one says we have to go out and get a franchise left tackle.
  10. Bryce young was. So was Zach Wilson, Trey lance, Daniel jones, Justin fields, Sam darnold. All top 10 thrown right in to the mix
  11. Stroud can say hi after Bryce Young, Sam Howell, Will Levis and Desmond Ridder
  12. Why wouldn’t you want him here? He’s old enough where he’s not going to be around more than 2 years. I think the fad of throwing guys right into the fire has probably ruined more careers than it’s helped
  13. Sounds like he’d rather stay. I mean, none of us can even comprehend what it’s like to have his type of money. But still, I’d have to imagine you get to a point where you just have so much money between your contract and your endorsements, are you going to haggle for a couple million more and risk moving to a place you don’t want to be? Especially when you’re older and have kids? Happens all the time to every day people, just on a much smaller scale. It’s not always about the dollars, and he’s become very marketable in recent years. Could take a contract discount and still earn a lot.
  14. So I take it Penix didn’t do well?
  15. No, but we talk about how they won too many games. Hunter had a great year, but would trading him at the deadline have lost them a couple games? Smith? Guy is a shell of himself and will probably retire this offseason. Other than that, what value was there on the roster that would have significantly affected their final record? They had to get Dobbs because they physically didn’t have 2 healthy QBs on the roster after Kirk got hurt. They probably would have lost to Atlanta on their own had Hall not been injured in-game. What was Dobbs expected to do? He didn’t even know the plays and was improvising. Then he was playing for a roster/starting spot against the saints and balled out. It is what it is. I just don’t see any moves that could have been made that would have erased enough wins to have a significant impact. Dobbs had a mini-run playing for a roster spot and the only other game they won could have easily been a loss if the raiders didn’t out-inept them. I remember when there was talk about trading Kirk when the team was 0-3 and 1-4 (a lot by me). Now I love Kirk and want him back next year, but THAT was a move that could have brought some return and also set the team up to lose on its own (not saying he would have approved). But then in classic Vikings fashion, they went out and went on a run before the blown out Achilles. Sometimes there just arent any moves that can be made to “throw” a season. And if any team failed at that, it wasn’t the Vikings. Look at the Jets. They need a QB and went 3-2 down the stretch. So do the Giants who went 4-3. Vikings went 1-5. And at one point, the bears were going to have 2 top 5 picks. People on rosters and in front offices have a hard time just giving up.
  16. It’s kind of funny how we fans talk about teams tanking or how teams should lose in order to help the draft status . Aside from having a fire sale and sending off anything of value, every single guy on the team (and coaches) would be foolish to go out and give a half assed effort to benefit draft status. Aside from the obvious injury risk, the average NFL career is like 3.5 years. I can’t imagine working your entire life to make it to the top of your profession, and then mailing it in for 9 games (after Kirk got hurt), putting your roster spot at risk. Just to hope the team gets better, and you may not even be around to see the benefit. All sports should have a lottery for the top ten picks.
  17. Last place schedule incoming!
  18. Think how improbable it is that the packers made the playoffs after the Vikings trounced them in lambeau. Just shocking

  20. Seeing the eagles be terrible is almost as good as a Vikings win to me
  21. Unless he has a monster game tomorrow night and someone else grabs him
  22. Hoping for better days ahead
  23. What a bizarre year. 1-4, 5-0, 1-6
  24. Steelers sneak in to the playoffs, unreal
  25. Hey 391 yards and 2 TDs. The defense didn’t have to be so terrible, again
