He’s shot, not coming out for the 5th
  6. Aggies7
He wouldn’t have gotten him though. Joe doesn’t have it tonight, clearly.

Chpettit’s argument is that the guys who were traded did not want to be, yet he also believes everyone in management should be fired because they haven’t done a good enough job. Since the people not doing a good job in management have yet to be fired, why would any player worth his weight want to stick around for that? I would hope if you worked at a place with terrible management and no discernible plan for success, you’d want to move on as well.

I mean, Paddack had a smile ear to ear in that interview where he definitely wasn’t bashing the twins. Didn’t seem to bother him all that much to be uprooted for the third time in his career.. These guys get moved around all the time. It’s part of the business, and yeah you’ll have players like Byron who are content to get paid and hopefully play 100 games a year in a market that’s not going to win anything nor ride him too much like they would in other towns. But not every player is like that. I’m gonna guess most guys don’t want to be involved in a clown show organization. I would prefer players demanding more of their organization and not “picking up the option” on a manager who hasn’t earned a benefit of the doubt. but that’s just me

Their bosses haven’t changed though??? In fact one was extended during this mess of a season . Cmon now
  10. Aggies7
Yes it’s very odd to argue that everyone in management, on and off the field, should be fired, but the guys who left the organization are very sad they were let go. That’s TD for ya.

I gotta hand it to Carlos, he didn’t want to leave but he did anyway, to help the twins remove some debt. He’s a much better guy than I thought he was 😂
  12. Aggies7
You’re acting like Carlos accepted a trade against his will lol did anyone else even ask about him? I’ve turned down jobs in my personal life because I didn’t want to leave my current job. Carlos could have said no and he’d be starting for the twins tonight
  13. Aggies7
Can it be all three reasons?
  14. Aggies7
Concerning comments have been being made since the end of last season, it’s nothing new.
  15. Aggies7
He even mentioned the nutritionist! Yes, I will believe exactly that based on the comments I’ve heard over the last few years and that most professional athletes don’t want to waste their minimal playing years with a directionless organization with poor management. Even players still with the team are saying concerning things. The Twins are not an attractive organization to play for right now and that shouldn’t be a controversial statement.

It’s funny, the tigers own site edited out his comments about the twins: https://www.mlb.com/tigers/video/chris-paddack-on-his-first-start-with-the-tigers sounds to me like a guy who wishes he was still in Minnesota and I’m making stuff up

“"My life got twisted upside down in a matter of 24 hours," Paddack said. I've been traded before, but never at the deadline. It's going to take some time getting used to. Everybody has been awesome so far. These facilities here, all the coaching staff, nutritionists, the kitchen - it's amazing what they have compared to what we had over at the Twins." kind of disingenuous to leave that out, no?
  18. Aggies7
Correa didn’t want to be in Minnesota to begin with, or he wouldn’t have been turned down by two other teams before coming back. I don’t particularly like the guy, but I guarantee you there isn’t one ounce of him that wants to be back in Minnesota, whether it was with Houston or someone else. People that have enjoyed the pinnacle of success in their profession can generally determine when they’re in a bad situation, whether that’s business or baseball. This is the same guy who said he wanted to raise his kids in MN. See how fast that changed.
  19. Aggies7
This is correct. Perhaps “good culture” is not overrated. But “bad culture” is not.
  20. Aggies7
Paddack wasn’t in Detroit for a day and he was bad mouthing the organization. You don’t mention the Jax and Rocco interaction the day before he was traded. You have guys still on the team saying it’s not good. Cmon be serious here. None of these guys wish they were still with the twins. They’re on contending teams, Except varland for the obvious reason.
  21. Aggies7
Who didn’t want to leave? Varland is the only one was seemed disappointed, probably because he’s a hometown kid. Everyone else couldn’t wait to GTFO. Duran is a celebrity in a baseball crazy city, only pitching in save situations for a team going to the playoffs. You think he’d rather be back with Rocco, inexplicably pitching mop up duty on a team going nowhere? Several of the guys have made unflattering comments, which is rare.
  22. Aggies7
Ok well if Rocco’s teams ever win anything of note, we can revisit this
  23. Aggies7
Culture means nothing til you have none and you trade off almost half your team
  24. Aggies7
I’m sure the dodgers would. Give me the guy who’s won the whole thing. Yes, with more talented guys. But he still had to manage the clubhouse, one with some of the highest paid players in the game and their egos.
  25. Aggies7
I also think it’s generally accepted that people don’t ask to leave well run, happy situations. Whether that be your average business or a pro ball team. I don’t necessarily trust Correa, but didn’t mild mannered Jax also want out? Players and coaches employees that are happy with management don’t do that.
