  1. Someone bunt! Bring in Carew!
  2. Buxton is going to win this for us. Walkl off drama at its best!
  3. Not a good time to do that Chief.
  4. Maybe Kintzler really took the words Labor Day to heart.
  5. The only thing it "prevents" you from doing is winning...
  6. Obviously Barreiro has never managed people. If you don't celebrate or at least acknoledge good performance either in the office or ball field why show up at all? So the season is lost...Should all of the players act sullen and sad after they do something good? Maybe Barreiro forgot that the really good teams in baseball look like they are having fun and playing loose. I say let them celebrate! What's the worst that can happen? They may actually realize that winning is more fun and it could carry over into next year. As a fan I would rather see the team throwing Gatorade around after a win than having a player remind me in an interview just how horrible the team actually is.
  7. USAFChief – Chief is actually a really nice old guy. His bark is worse than his bite. Keeps us all in line. Secretly he still sleeps with a teddy bear and volunteers as a candy striper at local hospitals. I also forgot to add, one of the funniest people on here! Sorry Chief. No snub intended. I didn't have a chance to respond last night.
  8. BTW, can someone explain what FTFY means? IMO I think I know. PBR me ASAP.
  9. This Thread is going waaaaay above the average for the last 6 weeks. Impressive...Is it that we have a long weekend ahead or is it the Tequila talking?
  10. You can view it through the telescopes!
  11. I was born on Friday the 13th. After I was born a huge storm and some tornadoes blew through town. For a minute my mom thought she had birthed Damien.
  12. Not a good idea. People would be falling over with torn ACL's.

  14. Welcome back to the always exciting, always riveting and always sunny Twins Daily Game Thread! The end of summer is almost nigh. For many, the end of summer brings up feelings of sadness. For others, the impending Fall and Winter months are as welcoming as a warm spring day. Thinking about the impending season change got me pondering more about life. Go back to when you were a young child. Think about all of the friends and relationships we have developed or nurtured through the years. Elementary school, middle school, high school, college, work relationships, church, girlfriends, boyfriends, neighbors, Twins Daily members…. Yes, I want to do a shout out to all of the Twins Daily members I’ve had the privilege of interacting with this year. As a relatively new member on this site I have to say I’ve had a great time posting back and forth with so many new cyber friends. Since we have not actually met face-to-face and only talk via short posts on the Game Thread, I decided to call out some of the more frequent posters to the Game Thread. Think of it as a tribute of sorts. With a Twins season so dismal while also riding a 12 game losing streak some of the more hardcore fans on this site need to be recognized. You need to be recognized for your zeal and also your continued passion. Please remember, I have never met any of the people that are listed below. I am simply trying to pay tribute to some of my new cyber friends and die hard Twins fans that have suffered along with me this season. To my good cyber friends! A tribute and a toast to you: Riverbrian – What a great writer! Thanks for always taking on the series opener. Riverbrian loves rivers. His favorite song is “I love that dirty water” by the Standells. USAFChief – Chief is actually a really nice old guy. His bark is worse than his bite. Keeps us all in line. Secretly he still sleeps with a teddy bear and volunteers as a candy striper at local hospitals. Craig Arko – Always has a quick wit. Owns 14 telescopes and watched original Star Wars 39 times. Thinks the Apollo 11 moon landing was a fraud. Vanimal46 – Vanimal posts some great pics! He is a veterinary assistant. Dislikes most animals and MLB teams with an animal or bird as a mascot. Ashburyjohn – Ashburyjohn always has a great sense of humor. Ash Trees in his yard have the Emerald Ash Borer. ChiTownTwinsFan – Always the polite one in the group. Uncanny ability to sum posts up quickly. Most don’t know it but ChiTown is one of the world’s leading DJ’s. Cranks out tunes until 5am every weekend. One of the few women that post regularly. Twinsnorth49 – Twinsnorth49 has a real sharp wit. Always funny. Loves computers and writing code 01010101. He stole Tom Kites glasses years ago at a PGA event. Still wears them today. Platoon – Always quick with the compliments. Total opposite of an Army guy. Secretly wanted to be in the Coast Guard. Obviously his favorite movie was “Platoon”. Halsey Hall – Very knowledgeable about the Twins. Retired submarine guy. Will quietly swear under his breath at other drivers on the road. Pity the soul that tries to ever car jack Halsey. Pardon My Dinger – Another poster with a sharp intellect. Some say a dry sense of humor. Has on tape every Emilio Estevez movie ever made. Spycake – All posts are very direct and to the point. Very logical thinker. Hacks computer networks late at night. Enjoys dropping an occasional virus onto TD member’s computers. Wsnydes – Always a conscientious poster. Loves golf but has never broke 100. Feels personally responsible for the Twins losing season. Winston Smith – Always the humorist. Moved overseas to escape some “legal” trouble. Loves beers and German woman. Danchat – Danchat is a very direct and straightforward contributor. Doesn’t give anyone slack. Talks quickly on the phone without saying hello or goodbye. Hosken Bombo Disco – One of the happier and honest fellows in the bunch. Always quick with a like. Has seen every Disney movie and actually has a rainbow and lollipop garden. Aggies7 – Aggie7 is one of the more popular and most respected contributors on the Game Threads. Somewhat sarcastic but a real push over. Always volunteers at church and regularly donates money to Goodwill and Salvation Army. Deduno Abides – The philosopher of the group. A real Joe cool. Kind of like an Indian Yogi. Loves the herbs and organic food mostly. 70charger – Hard charging poster. Loves the 70’s and is always comparing Rod Carew to everyone else. Operation Mindcrime – Another quick witted poster here…Operation Mindcrime just retired as one of the top murder investigators in Minnesota. Now is working with Twins F.O. to determine what cause the total system failure. LaBombo – One of my favorites. Always quick with a great pic or comment. Still plays Dungeons and Dragons but doesn’t pester people to play with him. Likes the Rubix Cube too. Willihammer – Brings a certain brand of integrity to our posts. Funny but serious at the same time. Threw the discus and shotput in college. Never mastered the hammer throw. HitInAPinch – Another friendly participant that is well versed in Twins history. Just a pinch between the check and gum (closet chewer)..Still a great person! Spinowner – Edgy poster with some great sarcasm. Political Science major and has worked for both the Dems and Republicans. A true undecided. sampleSizeOfOne – On top of every play. Also quick with posts about bunting. Tuba playing machine…Lives in NY but hates the Yankees too. What more can you ask? glunn – Glunn is a serious person. Long time Twins fan. He stays serious because he lives in Beverly Hills, California. Has only had limited plastic surgery done. jimmer – Posts some very funny comments. Dry humor to boot. Military guy now going soft after retirement. May work as a Twins usher at Target Field to yell at inattentive fans. Mike Sixel – Great writer that takes this seriously. Secretly posts in comments section of other websites trolling people on how they can earn $100/hr. selling Shaklee products. Go Twins! Game time weather: Partly cloudy and 78 degrees. 0% chance of rain. Lineups to follow....Trying to catch a plane. Sorry!
  15. Ief! Ease elp e! Hemlik! ant reath!
  16. Pat Light My Fire. It was a Doors song in 70'
  17. Otero - any relation to Othello?
  18. It would be kind of neat if we actually saw a player fired, demoted or deactivated at first base. I wonder if that has ever happened?
  19. Welcome to another installment of the Twins Daily Game Thread! The Twins have now lost 11 games in a row. Last night was a tough loss. The Twins actually had some decent pitching. Too bad the offense didn't pick up the slack. Oh well, tonights another night and anything can happen. It will be interesting to watch Andrew Albers pitch tonight for the Twins. It will be his 14th career big league appearance and his 1st MLB start since 2013. Will Albers be the one that gets this team off the losing streak? We will find out tonight. If Albers and the rest of the Twins team can't shed this losing streak tonight, I've come up with 11 ideas that the players, coaches and front office can do to get the team back into the win column. Here they are: 1. Fire someone - Fire anyone. At this point just do something. The fan base is seething. 2. Practice more - Practice infield drills, practice outfield drills, PLEASE PRACTICE BUNTING. 3. Players please call someone - Call your parents, friends, Little League coaches, etc. Tell them your troubles and remind them to tell you how lucky you are to be playing this great game. It will probably help you put this season into perspective. 4. Play loose - The best teams always play loose and with confidence. Even if you don't believe it pretend. It can't be any worse than what your doing now. 5. Pitchers - Go to the State Fair and play some games. Go throw fastballs at the milk jugs and try to knock them off the table. No pressure there. Remind yourself how much fun it is to pitch. Most people standing around won't even recognize you or know your name. 6. Get angry - If playing loose isn't your thing get angry. It may help you get the confidence back. If need be go fight the opposing team. Mix it up a little. If they aren't scared of your fastball or bat maybe they will fear your right hook. 7. Step up and be a leader - Remember Puckett in 91'? I think he said something like, "jump on my back, I'm gonna carry this team." Remember what Jack Morris said in 91'? "In the immortal words of Marvin Gaye, let's get it on..." 8. Come up with a great marketing campaign for 2017 - Something about how great we're going to be. Start the positive vibes now! 9. More joking in the clubhouse - Yes, joke around more. Please do it behind closed doors though. If fans see you having too much fun with a .320 win average it may not go over so well. 10. Play some golf - I've heard it can screw up your baseball swing but at this point who cares... 11. Play like you have nothing to lose. Go Twins!! LINEUPS: TWINS 1. Brian Dozier ® 2B 2. Joe Mauer (L) DH 3. Trevor Plouffe ® 1B 4. Miguel Sano ® 3B 5. Max Kepler (L) RF 6. Eduardo Escobar (S) SS 7. Eddie Rosario (L) LF 8. Kurt Suzuki ® C 9. Logan Schafer (L) CF Andrew Albers (L) SP INDIANS 1. Rajai Davis ® CF 2. Jason Kipnis (L) 2B 3. Francisco Lindor (S) SS 4. Mike Napoli ® 1B 5. Carlos Santana (S) DH 6. Jose Ramirez (S) 3B 7. Brandon Guyer ® LF 8. Abraham Almonte (S) RF 9. Chris Gimenez ® C Josh Tomlin ® SP Game-time weather: 78 degrees and mostly cloudy. 0% chance of rain.
  20. Sorry. I may have drank too much tonight. My apologies.
  21. Because. They are modern era MLB players.
  22. We need a strike out pitcher in there right now!
