  1. Mauer will be better this year because getting him out from behind the plate more keeps him healthier. The numbers show that and he does not have to worry about the offensive drop with Doumit behind the plate.
  2. This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands. You are a true Twins fan and it is appreciated. GO TWINS!!
  3. What do you think it will take to get him? What would you be willing to offer.
  4. This is a well thought out and excellently stated article. I hope the Twins are looking at the numbers the same way that you have presented them. The problem I fear is that they are looking at the numbers in a different way philosophically.
  5. AAAHHHH!!!! My head is exploding! NOOOOOO!
  6. Done! It was totally painless.
  7. Slama is just a big headscatcher to me. I am sure that he beat up Toby and stole his lunch money in the minors. Toby cried to Gardy and Slama wouldn't give the money back despite Gardy calling Slama's parents. This is the quote of the thread! Totally right on the money. Somewhere Slama did (or didn't) do something that pissed off a person to keep him from being called up. Well spoken Clutterheart.
  8. I agree with this petition. Why was he not called up?
  9. This is completely true. The Twins have no fire, no desire to prove they are the best, to BEAT other teams. They are content to play but not beat other teams and prove they are best. If they could get this attitude they would do well even if the talent right now is not that good.
  10. Don't know about the walks but I hope he is the next reliever in line for a promotion. Even if they think his stuff is not good enough for the bigs, what do they have to lose by giving him a shot?
  11. Stop baiting people Thrylos. We know you want Gardy gone. If things keep going the way they are, he will be gone soon enough.
  12. The Erik Komatsu era has begun.
  13. It will be interesting to see hoe the team responds to Ullger. I don't think he has much more than Gardy to motivate this team.
  14. Reading some of the quotes, I need to clarify that I agree that this is not the issue that should get him fired. My point is that he has lost this team and they don't want/care to play for him. For that fact, he needs to move on.
  15. Your penchant for ridding the team of Gardy is well known and documented. That being said, I agree with the analogy of the captain leaving the ship. He seems less and less in control of this team and not willing to do what it takes to right the ship. In those situations in professional sports, where the manager/coach has lost his team, teams usually get rid of them. But... that is not the "Twins Way."
  16. I agree 110% that it is time to send the message that you need to perform or take your ball and go home. Does anyone really believe that the Club will do anything close to that? That is not the "Twins Way." Continuity is the way to succeed. It is not working and the changes to improve for 2014 and beyond need to start now. This Club has bred an atmosphere of complacency and it needs to change if they want to return to winning baseball.
  17. All these moves are fine but the Twins do not seem to have a plan as to what direction they want to go right now. They are doing what they always seem to do, stay right in the middle and not commit and wait for something to happen. Usually it turns out alright but they never seem to commit, they seem afraid to take a chance or a real risk. If they committed to something the fan base may not like it but at least then they can say they tried something that did not work instead or being reactionary.
  18. The way Plouffe has been jerked around, it is no surprise he is hitting like crap. Like many players, they need to give him extended time to show what he is. It seems as if there is no plan as to what direction to take the team. Sometimes they try this, then try that. What are they trying to do?
  19. I've stopped going to the StarTrib for Twins info for the exact bias you state. I tired of the information coming late. If they have access, you would think they could get out the story faster and more accurately. I did not see that happening and stopped reading.
  20. This is an interesting and puzzling point. Yes, they kept Mauer, but it seems they still have the small market team attitude when it comes to brining in free agents. They continue to cling to the philosophy that they do not have money to spend and they have to do it all themselves and refuse to bring in new players for the top level team. If they come in a trade and spend time in the minors learning the "Twins way," that's OK. It is hindering their ability to field competitive teams.
  21. This has always frustrated me about the "Twins way." As a coach, don't you want to maximize the talent of a player and put them in situations to succeed? That seems like you would look at the players skills and maximize those. Not have them do something that does not suit their skill set.
  22. You make an excellent point. Who and where are these pitchers we received for those players? Do any of them stand a real chance of helping the team this year?
