  1. I've been saying all along I want Kyle Funkhouser for us, and I haven't changed my mind yet. Nathan Kirby is starting to intrigue me though.
  2. Whoever wrote that needs to find birdwatcher for his fanny pat :-) Those fangraphs guys are nuts anyway, especially that Cameron guy depending on numbers and logic...
  3. I think fanny patting is against TD policy ;-)
  4. Do 40-60% of top 30-40 pitching prospects work out to be at Ace level? Seems high.
  5. How long did it take him the first time around"? Was it six or seven seasons?
  6. When we lost our starting MIs and jettisoned a good chunk of our bullpen, it was not hard to look at those loses, along with expecting regression by the rotation and Thome, to see the team was going to have a down year. The injuries made it worse, but I doubt we're competing for the division even if we had normal MLB team health. It's like the team said MAN we killed the division, we can get away with losing some guys and still be competitive in the division.
  7. It's not whining, it's called discussing the team's woes. The 4 years plus one week refers to poor baseball being played. Cause it's been that long. I didn't say the rebuilding process has been going on that long. I wasn't even talking about the rebuilding process. As far as the rebuilding argument you just threw in there, I think I've been pretty consistent on that. There's a thread called:' When Is It Time To Take Action?' my response was, ' About two years ago, at least. When an injury plagued season was followed up by a really bad season.' That quote pretty is right in line with you saying rebuilding didn't start till after 2012. Now, it should have started earlier, it SHOULD have started after 2011 because 2011 was going to be a down year even without injuries and the team was getting old. But the team, like you, just blamed injuries and decided to hope the team would rebound. In any event, am I not acknowledging the injury riddled 2011 there? It was definitely a huge reason for our record, but hardly the only reason. I predicted we'd go 79-83 that season in my preseason pick before 2011 due to losing our middle IFs, jettisoning a good chunk of our bullpen, and regression by the rotation and Thome. This is after I had nailed the 2010 record during my preseason prediction for 2010.
  8. 'When Is It Time To Take Action?' About two years ago, at least. When an injury plagued season was followed up by a really bad season.
  9. For everyone who preaches patience....It hasn't been just one week. It's been 4 seasons PLUS one week. And it's not like this roster is considerably different, from a starting player standpoint, than the one we had last season. It's why some of us didn't foresee much, if any, improvement coming this season. It's not like all of us who are complaining thought we'd be contenders this season and the results are just now making us be critical of the team.
  10. Paying his dues would have started with coaching/managing in the minors and working his way up. A good example of a guy paying his dues to become manager would be HOFer Ryne Sandberg. Being a bench coach back in the late 90s/early 00's and then again in 2014 isn't exactly paying his dues. He got the job because he's a local guy, a fan favorite and a company guy. (along with being a smart baseball guy, but there are loads of those smart guys out there who have actually managed at some level and/or spent a bunch of time on a ML coaching staff).
  11. I'm not blaming Molitor, I just take issue with the idea that he DESERVED the managerial position for the Twins.
  12. 'Terry Ryan hired Paul Molitor, who had experience with the Twins organization, both major and minor league. An intelligent and hard-working guy, yes, he deserved to be manager.' Hard to agree that anyone DESERVES to manage a major league ball club when that person has never managed ANY baseball team. Some work out, as least in the short run, on teams already packed with talent at the major league level, but on a team like ours?
  13. And I was looking at your paper. Didn't you find your paper in the non-fiction section? :-)
  14. Hey, but just wait, all these prospects are coming. It's all about the prospects. Guaranteed winning with all these top prospects.:-)
  15. I think a lot like the Hughes extension based on ONE great season he had with us. Will they like it if he goes back to being the NY Hughes?
  16. 'I don't think anyone could've predicted they'd be this bad' There were plenty of people who predicted they would be this bad.
  17. I know it sounds petty and makes little sense to some, but him saying he'd rather be back in LA than in Minnesota doesn't sit well with some Minnesota natives.
  18. Even the nice catch he had in the first few games of the season, (the sort of dive he had close to the RF line coming in on the ball), he hesitated on his initial break to the ball and when he was running to it he took forever to get to 'full speed'. That 'great catch' that passed some fans eye test would have been much easier for most RF.
  19. Dodgers already got the Rays GM that did such a good job and the Cubs got their field manager.
  20. Or maybe they just believed/had faith in Ryan's opinion as opposed to those ridiculous defensive metrics :-)
  21. Our horrendous OF defense (and really overall defense) was an obvious flaw going into this season.
  22. that's what's been happening the last couple years. no surprise it's happening again. We had more than a full run difference between our ERA and FIP last year. Easily the largest difference in the majors.
  23. Ah, c'mon, OF defense can't possible be responsible for THAT kind of difference
