  1. I would like to see Palka play with the Twins this year. He is 24 1/2 years old, and has always put up strong numbers in the minors. He's behind the line, understand, but time will be telling more than a few things this year and next. * Hermann has 4 HR (2 away from Coors) and has thrown out 4-5 runners (do runners run slower in high altitude?).
  2. Mauer is now hitting .291. Have our expectations gotten so low? Answer yes.
  3. The noose is tight, the bottom drops, River Brian is hanging in space, he cracks one last joke. The locals gawk in awe.
  4. It's fun listening to Jim Palmer compliment Berrios' stuff and maturity.
  5. Reg: If you want to join the People's Front of Judea, you have to really hate the Romans. Brian: I do! Reg: Oh yeah, how much? Brian: A lot! Reg: Right, you're in. "Life of Brian" is the best Python movie ever ... IMOO (In my overbearing opinion).
  6. I'm sure they care. A lot. They just aren't very good right now. Understatement, I know.
  7. White Sox fans booing lustily a HBP with the bases loaded. I would call them uninformed idiots, but I think fans in every ball park kind of would do the same idiotic thing.
  8. Last night Abad looked in the air for a ball on the ground. Tonight the ball hits the corner of the corner of the bag. How many symbolic moments of this year will there be?
  9. The Twins just a month and a half ago during spring training ... how far they've come!
  10. Bright spot: Arcia going the other way - even if it was a dying quail, I don't mind.
  11. I'll add to that. In the past the minors employed a lot more "former" major leagers who were no longer good enough for the show, but were good ... now the minor leagues are only for those on the way up. Seems like something fun was lost for cities/towns that had/have minor league teams.
  12. What do you mean: "classifications went to D." I'm not familiar with that.
  13. I believe you're right. Approximately 1,000 men will play in the big leagues this year. That is nearly double the number of players in 1959 when there were only 16 teams. (and you probably are an old fart?)
  14. Right. Perfect fodder for a kid - the come-from-behind-team-person-always-wins-in-the-end ... Well, is this appropriate in this thread, now that I think of it?
  15. Sano's attitude with homeplate umpires is grating. I'm a huge fan, but he will get nowhere with this attitude.
  16. This is the post of the hour (I don't want to over-complement you. (Actually, you should write a damn baseball book!)
  17. My favorite book as a kid. (I mentioned this last year - it was written by Bob Allison, but not that Bob Allison!)
  18. I'm looking forward to seeing Polanco, but it is March 7, or May 7th?
