  1. And Gameday just calmly states that "Carlos Sanchez lines out to center fielder Aaron Hicks."
  2. You have me eagerly anticipating the next release when the Twins put on the other pair of Sox.
  3. I took a look - and I must say that TD knows how to do game threads better. But that's to be expected. And maybe you beat the Sox fans into oblivion. They probably read your comment, pondered for half an hour how to block you, and then decided that a safer method would be to cancel the game thread for today. Just an idea, and it probably won't fly: How 'bout we all head over to SouthSideSox and teach 'em how a real Game Thread is done?
  4. If that is the case we will have to confine him to TD and, if absolutely necessary (but only as a last resort), torture him until he recants his beliefs.
  5. I personally think that every player on the team should have a shot a being the MVP - or at least CY - at the beginning of the season. Putting somebody in starting position while knowing that they'd only be pulled after 3 would basically take that hope away from them. And, on top of that, pulling somebody who was going strong because his pitch count was at - uh, 40? could result in longer, slower games. Though, of course they could make the decision to pull the pitchers in between innings instead of waiting until everything fell apart in the middle of the 4th - which would start happening if stamina was no longer an issue of importance. But what about when the bullpen falls apart? That's two hours of disaster instead of just one. I'm afraid I'd be having a meltdown with Bert. I think I'd almost prefer to see the catcher playing the shift - even though the batter would strike out and then saunter down to his base. So yeah, you can classify me as one of those stubborn people who like to stick by tradition.
  6. D.J. Baxendale started the game on Wednesday versus the Montgomery Biscuits, Tampa Bay's Class A affiliate. Baxendale froze Joey Rickard to lead off the game but gave up 2 runs before finally getting out of the jam, picking up his 2nd strikeout of the game and stranding a runner at 2nd base. To go on record, in the bottom half of that inning, Byron Buxton hit his 1st of 2 triples on the game and then proceeded to score on an error by Montgomery's 2nd baseman Leonardo Reginatto. Over 6 innings pitched, Baxendale faced 26 batters and allowed 4 runs on 7 hits (1 of which was a 2-out solo shot by Biscuits' right fielder Johnny Field in the 3rd), walked 2, and struck out 4 on 93 pitches, 60 of which were strikes. Baxendale was replaced in the 7th by Jake Reed, who picked up the win after Chattanooga came back and scored 8 runs over the next 2 innings, beating Montgomery 11-5. D.J. Baxendale now has 47.1 innings on the year, and his ERA currently stands at 2.47.
  7. Sadly I wasn't able to participate last night. Luckily I also was unable to listen to the game. I don't think I could have handled the stress. But we came out strong (as expected), and I read the thread today. Good one (as expected). I saw that some of you can't see the lefty batter in the MLB logo. I hope this helps.
  8. Danny Gladden didn't think that they should give him credit for putting that ball in the river. I think he's right, too, because if somebody hit a ball hard enough to go out of any other stadium but somebody reached up and pulled it in, the hitter wouldn't get the credit of hitting it all the way out of the park.
  9. We already did have a losing spell, and we handled it well, too. In the past month alone we have raised our record by nearly .200. So if we get ourselves into a similar losing spell (i.e. 1-6) later on this season, well, if we can come back to raise our record by .200 more, it'll be well worth it.
  10. Here's another: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XffxvV1PAEI
  11. I am now officially qualified to sing The Star-Spangled Banner before game 7 of the next Twins World Series, whenever that is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WeD3kWQ4y18
  12. The only time I ever liked the Pirates was when they valued Morneau more than we did. That, and when we beat them. BALLGAME!! .
  13. Don't let me hear you slander my Dozier again. Ever. http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/wjon.com/files/2015/05/Minnesota-Twins-Dozier-Santana1.jpg

  16. Waal now, leave it to Boyer.
  17. Oh good, Boyer. Never thought I'd say that just a short while ago.
  18. FTFY. I am holier than Minnesota. It's an unquestionable fact.
  19. What can he buy her to tone her down a bit?
  20. Don't tell me that I grated my nails into the cheese for the pizza tonight and then burned it dark brown for nothing over my excitement about these Twins.
  21. Throw it in the wash until it's no longer Pist on. Then have your wife put on a TC iron-on.
  22. What?...How do people usually spell it?
  23. Vavra is staying hot in Cedar Rapids, playing in 6 games since I adopted him and going 11-25 (.440) with 2 doubles and 3 homers, driving in 8 runs and striking out only once. The last of those home runs was hit today off of Peoria's Daniel Poncedeleon in the 3rd inning, giving the Kernels a 4-2 lead. Pat Kelly and Nick Gordon were at the corners when Vavra hit a deep fly ball to the gap in right center field. The ball lodged in the padding at the base of the wall, and though the outfielders put up their hands to call a double, they then proceeded to dive after the baseball to try to recover it, allowing all three runs to score on an inside the park home run. Peoria went on to win the game 7-5. Vavra is now batting .348/.405/.568 (.974) on the season with 6 home runs and 34 RBI in 36 games. 4 of those home runs have been 3-run shots.
