  1. Hitting a baseball is slightly more difficult than a coach telling a batter, "Hey, big fella- go up there & hit the ball. Try not to whiff, okay?"
  2. I fully expect the Twins to get back into this game and, at minimum, put a scare into the Buccos today.
  3. In light of Lynn's total lack of control, and how this inning spiraled out of control by his lack of control, I will step down from the soapbox of umpiring being a major part of MLB's 'pace of play' issue. But not for long...
  4. Think Castro told Moran what was coming?
  5. No such thing as a bad one year contract...
  6. I can acknowledge that Lynn has been all over the place thus far, but if that dope behind the plate doesn't start calling strikes, this is gonna be a long game.
  7. Agreed. But I don't put pitchers' fitness on the same level as position players. Arms & elbows have minds of their own.
  8. Obviously, this absurd pitching is not sustainable. But it does set a great tone for the season for a team that hasn't exactly been stellar in the pitching department. Also worth noting that the Twins have not yet made an error three games into the season. Another great tone-setter...
  9. Regarding bullpen use: teams go into each game with a blueprint for how they are going to manage their relievers that day. Among other things, the plan is dictated by recent usage / availability of the relievers, the opponent's lineup, the opponent's bench options, and recent usage thereof. Now, there are things that can affect the plan like injuries, extra-innings, etc. This allows the relievers to be prepared to the extent possible that they may be pitching each day. Many of the bullpen decisions managers make in-game are actually pre-determined, or at least thought-out, well before each situation arises within the course of a game. There are definitely some, but probably not quite as many ‘spur-of-the-moment’ decisions made in-game as we may sometimes think.
  10. Twins got great pitching yesterday. Give up 5 hits over 11 innings, and you're gonna win a lot more of those than you'll lose. I am far from worried about the Twins scoring runs this season, and it will be quite a while before I even give that a second thought.
  11. Joe approaching 2,000 hits kinda puts the 3,000 hit milestone in some level of perspective. All those hits, and Joe's only 2/3 of the way there. Crazy.
  12. Mauer squared to bunt in the 10th, Cheech Rosario just squared up in the 11th. Stop the insanity.
  13. This LaMarre fella is way too pretty to be a ballplayer.
  14. ENOUGH WITH THE BUNTING!!! HIT DINGERS!!!
  15. Okay, can we put up, like, about a 6-spot here and open this thing up?
  16. Any reason why Rodney didn't cover second base there? Was he backing up a different base? Yuck.
  17. Commence the 'Fernando Rodney Experience, Minnesota Style' era. Buckle up.
  18. Simple math? Speak for yourself, pal.
  19. Oh, man. My heart goes out to Marney for having to film that Pizza Ranch spot.
  20. So, soon as the count to Grossman goes to 2-1, the beloved Fox Sports Go app I praised earlier bombs out on me, causing to miss all the excitement. That's just gross, man.
  21. Now Dick has Crush Davis losing a ground ball, in the lights, on a sunny day, at approximately 5:35 ET. Holy moly.
  22. Merely listening to Gladden will significantly affect one's baseball IQ in a very negative way.
