  1. Arcia looks like a bad hitter until he whaps one.
  2. I'm not going to go Jim Hoey far, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned that Meyer's 98 mph heater is that easy to hit with authority. Speed isn't that helpful if it's straight.
  3. Heh. I guess I don't feel bad for failing to check this thread during the game.
  4. Yeah, Meyer got lucky. The first out was a smoked at 'em ball. Next guy hit another liner in just about the same spot that dropped in, then a double play got him out of it. I was hoping for at least one K. Berrios was nasty, though, and Vargas was as advertised. He made a nice snag of a line drive. Showed off his 6 inch vertical.
  5. I'm on the blue line to Target Field right now. Anybody else going to be at the Futures Game?
  6. Radio says a flu bug is going through the clubhouse, and it may have bitten Perk.
  7. Parmelee continues to pay no respect to the pitching today.
  8. I was at that game, sitting in the upper deck behind home plate. The grand slam was the punchline to the joke set up in the previous at bat. Second and third, Morneau up, and they intentionally walk him to load the bases for Kubel. I'm thinking to myself, "Are the Angels watching the same game I am? Kubel's a beast today. This is not going to end well for them."
  9. I listen to the radio broadcasts a lot, and I like them both. I know what to expect, and that keeps it from getting on my nerves. Provus is quite good a PBP, and Gladden is Gladden. The big plays will be described enough to know what happened. I don't need to know if the outfield catch was at the knees or over his head. Hell, it's not hard to infer a lot of the things Gladden misses. Also, I have no idea why people had an issue with Uecker in the booth. He would frequently pause to let Provus throw in a quick PBP update, and the conversations were entertaining. Hell of a lot better than having somebody who barely knows what a microphone is talking about breast cancer awareness or whatever. I don't know. I don't get the rage. Maybe I'm just not Internetting right today.
  10. The mobile site always pulls up the forum root, and not the front page with the articles for me. Not sure if that's by design, but it's irritating having to go into the forum and click on the post link in the first comment. Also, the symbols in the buttons near the top give me no clue as to their function.
  11. Pitch count be damned. Send that boy out for the 7th!
  12. It's the area between the soles of his shoes and the top of his ball cap.
  13. Picking nits, but they call it Indiana University, not the University of Indiana.
  14. "We fly charters and stewardesses ask us if they can get us anything, like food." That's got to be my favorite part. How grounded do you have to be to mention getting food on an airplane as a notable perk in an interview with Peter Gammons? He's the polar opposite of the egotistical athletes that come out of the draft assuming the world owes them everything. I can't put into words how much respect I have for the man.
  15. Favorite all-time Twin: Kent Hrbek Favorite current Twin: Joe Mauer Favorite Pizza: Supreme
  16. The game notes on the ESPN recap of the day game were interesting. 1) Gibson is the first Twins starting pitcher to be in the opening rotation and win his first three starts since Livan frickin' Hernandez in 08! Ugh. 2) Gibson managed to prevent Melky Cabrera from getting a hit, which snaps his season-long hit streak.
  17. Plouffe is out, too. Apparently, Nunez provides better defense at the hot corner.
  18. I welcome the new robot overlords... I mean umpires.
  19. Based on the ESPN gamecast, I don't think Pelf would have given up a single walk if the ump had more than a 6 sq. in. strike zone. You essentially have to groove one, or it's a ball.
  20. I was listening a bit to the top of the second driving into work... What happened to Pelf's newfound faster tempo on the mound? I swear it was about a minute between pitches to Norris.
  21. That's the Twins I know and love. Leaving the bases juiced and walking away with nothing.
  22. They're walking Willi to get to Cola?
  23. Now Dozier and Mauer are getting it together!
  24. Gladden thought it was a good call to send him, for what it's worth. Being aggressive when you're ahead early in the game.
