We all enjoy late bloomers. They are part of what makes prospect wacthing fun, but Wells is either a Baxendale type of pitcher or there is something more there. Hope he gets to AA this year so we can see.

Wells doesn't get the attention of national prospect writers because of draft position and his age vs level. But 178 Ks in 145 IP says there is something there. Hope he does well in Fort Myers and gets promoted mid year. It will be fun to see if he can do it vs more mature batsman. And Baddoo has more SBs than Lewis? Despite his slow start he is still taking walks and getting on base. Hopefully as the weather warms his strike outs be come hits and he really gets going.

"nerdy" was the term the poster used, and I think 3 games is not enough. I have never been believer in Hildy as I think he gets by on deception. Over time MLB hitters will get used to where the ball leaves his hand. But its just too damn early in the year to make any inference especially after what he did last year. So lets wait until May, and see where the team is at.

folks There are 0.0 "nerdy" stats that matter right now. There are no trends at this point. Baseball is about patience. So be patient.

Article: Logan Morrison: Bad or Just Bad Luck?

Too soon. At this point no stat has any significance. It's cold, he is the primary DH for the first time in his career and its early. Give it a few weeks. -

Whitefield is a nice athletic prospect with good speed who will need to cut down on strike outs. But comparing his defense to Buxton's? That take is fire.

I found it notable that Littell got the nod as opening day starter. Hope Gonsalves takes this personally and comes out firing.

I wouldn't have hated to see Wade get pushed up to AAA this year. I guess they are hoping he hits for more power repeating the level

Wander Javier is starting in EST this year? Also - Did you or anyone else at Spring Training - get to see Michael Montero? He shredded the DSL as a 17 year old, and I was hoping we would start hearing reports on him this spring. It would be great if he was in the GCL.- 34 replies

Max Kepler leading the team in HR's is a bold prediction. Target field is tough on LH power and he has struggled against LH pitching.

I have seen a lot of pictures of the minor leaguers wearing that helmet faceguard. Is that a new? Is this a mandate and will all players wear that this year?

So Aybar is a lock to be gone? Granite has no chance? And Hildy is a stone cold lock to make the 25 man roster?

Article: Twins 2018 Position Analysis: Third Base
clutterheart replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The weight thing is what it is. If he hits, he can play. The sexual assault is his biggest red flag. That story makes me very concerned about that guy. I hope he performs great this year, Twins win the World Series and he gets traded.- 77 replies

Seems aggressive on Leqch. He would have to really show something in E-town next year. Top 20 seems more likely. I also like Miranda but he is going to be fighting for his position and that might slow his rise down. I would pick Bechtold as having a best chance to jump. He will be 22 and so the Twins could move him up quick. I don't see a better everyday Third base prospect in the entire system. He has a wide open path to AA if he stays healthy and starts the year strong.

But so what? In this case Thrylos could be right. Gordon has some red-flags that get missed due to his past rankings and draft position. From what we hear, his D is not a strength. His bat has been consistently not great. His lack of power is a concern. He doesn't steal bases very well. He doesn't seem to have the best bat control. And He has never had an over .800 OPS. It could be he improves - he made some interesting strides last year especially to start the year. But Thrylos has a point here. Nothing in Gordon's past performance indicates he will be anything but a spot starter with no pop.

Think they will move Severino to the outfield? That infield at CR is already stacked. Toby is going to have to get creative.

With the current pitching staff I don't think the Window is open. The FO would need to spend about 30 - 40 MM more on 2 FA pitchers to have an "on paper" shot at the title this year. Also the White Sox have a stacked minor league system. If their prospects come on they could compete this year.
