  1. It's a shame that Byung Ho Park can't adjust to MLB pitching. :-|
  2. Boyer just can't get guys out. Back to Japan? Call it a career?
  3. The ump's strike zone is a puzzling shape. Like a fat man slumped in a chair, wide down low.
  4. That catch by Buxton... Man, that's speed. He was running about 23mph just then, like the fastest guys in the NFL.
  5. This starting pitcher appears hittable.
  6. Maybe more than in any other year of his career Joe Mauer can show a bunch of young ballplayers how to win games by playing smart and doing things the right way. Coaches can harp on correct form all day long, but Joe Mauer does things every game that prove you can win by doing it by the book. Is it rubbing off? We can't know for sure, but when I see Oswaldo Arcia reach out and stroke an oppo hit for the win, that's an encouraging sign. Hit 'em where they ain't, and then play smart, solid defense. Get your feet right, so you can throw the ball on target. Understand the game situation so you know the right play before it happens. Study pitchers so you know their tendencies. Baseball is easy. Just play like Joe Mauer. ;-)
  7. Some may not remember that Joe Mauer was a star quarterback in high school. He was considered the best college prospect in the nation, but everybody knew he was committed to baseball. Mauer is a great athlete with a genuine golden arm. He also was an excellent HS pitcher. Probably could have been a pro pitcher, too. I'm really glad he appears to be finally getting past those nasty concussion symptoms. Let's hope we get to see some of the old Mauer magic at the plate this year. Early signs are very good - he appears to be recognizing pitches quicker and getting the bat to the ball with more precision.
  8. Good test for Jepsen. Let's see him attack the zone. Nothing passive.
  9. This bunch of guys is getting angry like a nest of hornets. It's been kicked a bunch now, and they're about ready to swarm.
  10. Aside from the current score, I'm starting to see some encouraging signs at the plate. When players start hitting sizzling liners to outfielders, they are close to breaking out with some hits.
  11. Next time Sano shouts, "I got it," Nunez definitely heard him.
  12. God created Dune to test the faithful. Then He said, "How shall I test baseball fans?"
  13. As fans, we have officially entered a Roman wilderness of pain. h/t, Jim Morrison
  14. Early chiropractic. I can fix that sore back!
  15. The look of relief on Plouffe's face. It's like you just spent ten days digging a hole. You're tired, you're dirty... And then your shovel hits something solid at the bottom. You wipe away the dirt to find a little trap door. You open it to find a single cold can of beer. The look of relief on Plouffe's face.
  16. This Twins team is due to jack about twelve balls over the fence.
  17. If anybody deserved a little reward, it was Nunez. Nice swat by Sano.
  18. Strange night... Nunez taking punishment from all directions, but his helmet hasn't fallen off.
  19. Nunez: "Would you people stop hitting me!"
  20. Have each hitter flip a coin to decide if they're going to swing at the first pitch or not. It'll drive pitchers crazy.
  21. I was just thinking about long haired pitchers when I saw Noah Syndergaard pitching. Maybe Alex Meyer should grow really long hair and become a Norse god like Thor!
  22. I read an article via reddit a couple days ago about Bartolo Colon's magical resurgence after having stem cell therapy in 2010. Apparently Colon's shoulder was as bad as mine - impingement, arthritis, rotator cuff damage, etc. He could throw a ball no more than 75mph. So a doctor sucked blood from his bone marrow, isolated stem cells, mixed it with belly fat, then injected it into Colon's shoulder. Within months, the tissues regenerated. Since that procedure Colon has won 57 games and is still pitching in the MLB. Maybe Perkins is in line for a stem cell resurgence. Maybe I am, too! Can I get some for my feet?
  23. After watching Tonkin today, I'd go with Rogers as much as possible.
