  1. I expect today's game to be very professional on both sides. That was an unusual lack of discipline for both sides. Molitor and Francona don't stand for a lot of showboating.
  2. Bingo on Molitor. Suzuki was a little easier to read. ;-)
  3. Most frustrating for me was that Pelfrey's MO for a bad start is very clear. If his stuff isn't bending enough, they start hitting hard line drives right away. That's the rumble before the avalanche, but Molitor didn't seem to notice, or chose to ignore the rumble. Several Twins pitchers are subject to this form of collapse, but all of them stem from the same thing - lack of command. Pelfrey's craptavalanche comes from a lack of command, insufficient movement on his heater as he tries to bend it right and left, plus elevating it, plus pipelining it down the middle. This makes for a particularly explosive craptavalanche. Thing is, a good manager is supposed to have a weather eye for such things. We here saw it coming several batters before the big, stinky craptavalanche hit the scoreboard. Even after it hit, whom did Molitor bring in? JR Graham, perhaps the second most prone to a craptavalanche. Graham has the proverbial "electric stuff," but his command appears to vary inversely with the importance of the outing. You don't bring in JR Graham to stop a craptavalanche. Frankly, the Twins don't have a craptavalanche stopper in the pen. For that you need either an ace strikeout guy or a reliable sinker baller. A healthy Glenn Perkins could do it. But to prevent one, you have to yank Pelfrey early and have somebody like Trevor May ready to go. Then be ready to yank him early, and so on. No long leashes in this situation.
  4. Now testing formatting tools in Maelstrom... Bold, Italics, Underline... works good. That's all my browsers. Everything worked except old IE... what a shock.
  5. Now testing formatting tools in Chrome... Bold, Italics, Underline... works good.
  6. Now using formatting tools in latest Firefox... Italics, Bold, Underline... works good.
  7. Just went to TD using Microsoft Edge 20... Works good. Tried opening same page in IE... no good. Freezes up. I'd switch to the newer MS browser, if possible. I see the formatting tool bar above the text... Italics, Bold, Underline... yup.
  8. Nein, swinehunt, you will stay in your socket and work!!
  9. I have nothing against Mike Pelfrey at all. Some days a pitcher just doesn't have his best stuff, and when Pelfrey's stuff isn't sharp, he gets pounded. You could say the same for Tommy Milone and a few other Twins pitchers. They don't have a lot of extra tricks beyond their limited repertoires. None of this means that these guys don't try their butts off. Of course they do, it's their job, their living, and their life-long passion to play professional baseball. I envy their brief careers as stars in athletic showbiz. It's a wild ride compared to most people's mundane existence. Pelfrey could still be a valuable pitcher, but not as a starter. He could be a very good middle reliever, providing an inning in half the team's games next year. However, he's just not a starter anymore. He's got to adapt to his changing body, like all of us do.
  10. Cody Anderson looks like a good pitcher. Works fast, crisp stuff, keeps the ball low.
  11. Have we not all seen this bad movie before? The one where the the guy wants to go look see what's that noise in the basement, and everybody's yelling, "Nooo, the killer's down there," and he goes down there anyway, and he gets killed, and we all could see that was going to happen. At what point does Molitor not see that this was going to happen? I was typing this even as Pelfrey was giving up the 4th run, and I had no doubt about it. You've got to recognize the avalanche of crap before it gathers steam, so you can step out of the way and congratulate yourself on your cleverness.
  12. The replay judges are having a beer while they decide...
  13. Pelfrey's got nothing. Molitor please, get him out of there!
  14. Warm up a warm body! Pelfrey's got nothing!!
  15. Hey, I went to a SPAM jamboree in Austin MN one year, bought a SPAM t-shirt that I totally wore out. Never liked SPAM, but the t-shirt was a classic. Never knew there were so many flavors of SPAM, either. Maple SPAM...!
  16. Can we warm up a reliever right now?
  17. Suzuki's catching the 2nd game? That's brutal.
  18. No sherry...hmmm... Okay, do the chicken one with 1 tsp peanut butter, sautee in pan with a dash of beer and lots of garlic salt. Nasty simulation of Tai food.
  19. I don't care what everybody else says, I think you're really cool!
  20. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING THIS GAME HAS ENDED.
  21. If you've got some Creme Sherry, do the scampi with a shot of sherry and a pat of butter, one tsp fresh garlic, a few shakes fresh ground pepper, and a cup of diced onions. Sautee, enjoy.
  22. Seems like Tonkin is settling down now. Looks like a pretty good arm.
  23. Yeah, somebody tell Sano, he swing like a little girlie-man!
