  1. Comparing them to prior prospect duos is fun but a little silly. Wouldn't it make more sense to compare Buxton to other #1 prospects and Sano to other #3 prospects? That wouldn't tell us much either but at least you're comparing them to a larger pool of prospects. It's less sobering to compare Buxton to Bryce Harper, Jason Heyward, Matt Wieters, Jay Bruce, Delmon Young, Joe Mauer, Mark Teixeira, Josh Hamilton, JD Drew, Ben Greive, Andruw Jones, A-Rod, Cliff Floyd, Chipper Jones. Or Sano to Mike Trout, Jesus Montero, Giancarlo Stanton, Colby Rasmus, Delmon Young, Brandon Wood, Jose Reyes, Hank Blalock, Corey Patterson, Eric Chavez, Adrian Beltre, Ruben Rivera, Chipper Jones, Jeffrey Hammonds, Cliff Floyd, Ryan Klesko. Top 3 prospects work out pretty often. There are some clunkers in there but we all know there are no guarantees. Cross your fingers and hope we get Andruw Jones and Giancarlo Stanton instead of Ben Grieve and Ruben Rivera.
  2. I'll be behind the Twins dugout on Saturday. And how dare you Dave. Opinions are like buttholes. Everyone should have one that looks like everyone elses.
  3. What has he done that makes you think he'd be a good manager? No snark. Real question. I have no opinion on whether Molitor or Sandberg or anyone else without real experience should/could be a good manager.
  4. So many players are drafted/signed as players at premium defensive positions but wind up being moved to less demanding positions. Sano was a SS, Morneau was a C, Plouffe was a SS, etc. So while it sounds like the right idea to sign a SS in the Int'l market, where they play in 6 years or whenever they're ready for the big leagues is no guarantee.
  5. When was Morneau the better player? The first half of 2010 he was better, but in every other year it was either very close (simply with the bat, not taking position into account) or Mauer was clearly better. I see this take (being left "cold" by Mauer) from so many fans and I just don't understand. Mauer has had the more productive career at a premium position. They're both boring personalities (from what we can tell). I don't see how if Mauer leaves you cold Morneau wouldn't do the same. Is it the $$$?
  6. You're supposed to pitch well against bad teams. Why is that a knock on a guy? Look at Verlander's game log - gets beat up by the Yankees, Orioles, Rangers, Indians and beats up on the same teams all other pitchers beat up on. That's the way it works. If we're really arguing about the difference between Kevin (swear word) Correia and Shaun (swear word) Marcum - we all lose.
  7. He was hurt and his 118 major league innings have been mostly terrible, so that's probably part of it too.
  8. That's a pretty terrible article by Tom Powers.
  9. That's not a fair comparison. If Mauer and Kershaw were available in the same draft every team in the league takes Mauer first.
  10. How many games have you seen Gibson pitch?
  11. That was pretty good. I'd written him off as a dope after the initial quote but this was pretty well said.
  12. Congrats Seth, I've been a fan for a long time. Keep it up!
  13. I love the way Provus describes what he is seeing so clearly. I feel like I'm at the game, I can picture it in my mind. Then Dazzle comes on and I have no clue what's going on, he just glazes over whole at bats. Hopefully they pull him out of the pbp role and let him focus on telling stories and (presumably) combing his hair with a switchblade comb.
  14. Exactly. PJ Walters is not going to be on the next Twins playoff team. Kyle Gibson should be. This stinks.
  15. Just this offseason Buxton was considered the much better prospect by every prospect list that I saw. Since then Buxton has been the talk of the minor leagues, exceeding all expectations (and being compared to Mike Trout by Jim Callis). Gausman has been quite good but I'm pretty certain mike wants wins would be alone in preferring him to Buxton.
  16. Yeah this is great, he seems like a good guy. It's exciting that we're getting a look at Hicks and Arcia and now I can't wait for Gibson. Hopefully it's soon.
  17. I was, for reasons I can't recall, a huge Roy Smith guy. I remember thinking a rotation of Roy Smith, Allan Anderson and this new guy, Rick Aguilera, would be pretty solid. More recently I was a huge Carlos Gomez fan even though he's exactly the type of player that drives me nuts.
  18. Oh man. Go to the mirror and high five yourself because you just won an internet showdown by calling people babies! Then you were like "uh-uh, I'M NOT FINISHED" and then you added "Whaaaaa" which was pretty much like your finishing move. Very impressive. At first I didnt' know if I should take you seriously. But now? Well now I would let you raise my child.
  19. Sorry, but I had to fix that for you. Richard Godhard prefers we use his full name.
  20. There are beers for less than $11.00. There might BE beers for $11 but there are also beers for $6.00.
  21. I was 11 & 15 when the Twins won their 2 World Series. My childhood bedroom walls were dedicated to Kirby. I chose his 1984 Fleer Update rookie card over the original Nintendo for my 12th birthday. But I would still vote Killebrew. He made Minnesotans fall in love with the Twins and he was the best player to ever wear the uniform.
  22. Ugh, I sure hope not. First, he takes 3-5 minutes between pitches. He's really tough to watch. But more importantly he hasn't been any good since 2008. No thanks.
  23. If you want updated rosters with full, accurate minor leagues check out MLB 13 The Show Forums - Operation Sports Forums. This community does awesome work and posts full rosters out on the Vault. It's pretty awesome to play a season and have the option to call up real prospects rather than their fake players. Plus they tweak some of the weird rankings to give a more realistic player landscape. They also build histrorical rosters of the full league (on last years version I think I have 65, 69, 75, 84, 95). Pretty cool stuff.
  24. I hate to be a stickler, but we should really refer to him by his full name. Richard Godhard Becker. Thanks.
  25. Ha, this is funny but not at all for the reasons you thought it would be.
