  1. You can view the most up-to-date rosters as well as keep up on the Draft signings (1 so far...) here.
  2. Twins sign 9th round pick Mitchell Garver for $40K. Signing this senior will save the Twins $108,100 to apply elsewhere in the draft. Re Gonsalves: The Twins are confident they'll get him signed. Multiple sources have confirmed that. He might take up some of that extra cash, but the Twins have no reason to believe he won't sign.
  3. I have the Galaxy s3 and have never experienced that problem. Interesting.
  4. I would guess Vargas goes up as soon as Michael Gonzales is healthy.
  5. Beresford up to AAA, per Morse.
  6. Drew Butera: Activated by the Red Wings. Colabello brought up for today's double-header.
  7. Because the seniors will sign. If Boldt doesn't sign, they don't lose any money. It's the same reason the Royals took Dozier and Manaea where they did. They'd lose twice the money taking Manaea first and failing to sign him.
  8. The money they might save on Ball, they'll have to give to Denney and then some. Even if they can get their seniors to sign for a collective 70K, they still can only bank around half a mill. If they're willing to pay the tax and can skim from the other guys, they could find a way to have an extra million bucks. And that might be enough to buy Boldt or Sheffield out of their commitment. It's at least enough that other prep guys will listen.
  9. The EST list is w/o the draft picks. But really the only addition to the position player is the IU 3B. International signings from this class aren't eligible to play until next season. The only one who will play in the States this year from the 2012 class is Minier (3B for GCL... although he might be given a shot at SS, due to the numbers).
  10. Boldt's rumored price is $1.5m. I don't see any way they make it happen... Text I got about Boldt, "wants a bunch of money and the medical is risky, doesn't add up to a sign." At this point, though, the picks aren't tied to any specific amount of money, so they could draft him, offer him as much as they can and see him again three years from now. That would also prevent someone else from getting him, if the Twins have interest in him. We will see some high-demand guys come off the board early today.
  11. Something to keep in mind as the draft progresses: The Twins currently only have five 2B, 3B, SS-type players in EST. They have eight OFs and five catchers (not counting yesterdays). I would expect a few extra infield bodies to be taken. Pitching-wise they could already fill out both staffs, but they'll obviously continue to add arms as well. It should be an interesting day draft-wise, not to mention both Ryan Eades and Aaron Slegers are on the mound in their regional games today.
  12. I thought it made perfect sense to go the safe route in Round 2. Safe, of course, meaning specifically someone that hasn't torn a labrum. I personally don't have any issue with what Eades brings to the mound, but for some teams a torn labrum in their medical history isn't a red flag, it's a black flag.
  13. I expect the Twins to play it relatively straight tomorrow, especially for the next 6-8 rounds. They might slip a higher-upside/harder-sign guy in there... but for the most part tomorrow will be about organizational depth. The most they spent on a non-top 10 guy last year was $190,000 and that was with a bigger pool. Judging by what I've heard, Garver is going to to be the only one significantly higher or lower than slot, so we're talking about an extra $75,000 or so for tomorrow.
  14. It was a very down year. Hector Otero was a very successful scout and when you unearth guys, agencies take note. They're looking for talent too. I'm sure the Twins were disappointed that Otero left, but his replacement, Freddie Thon, is a guy the Twins have high hopes for - eye for talent, tireless worker, etc. I think we'll see Thon get a guy or two tomorrow.
  15. The original article has been going through updates throughout the day, so you should read that for additional information. Just a few things that were brought up in the forum that should be touched on: The Twins knew that Jon Denney had worked a deal with the Red Sox to sign for a bonus in the 800K range. They knew they didn't have that type of money to spend on him. There is no interest in Ryan Boldt. They have a figure and they aren't going to be able to give it to him. It will be interesting to see if he goes to Nebraska, or JCs it somewhere and re-enters the draft next year. Jan Hernandez was one Puerto Rican the Twins showed interest in, but he would have been moved to 3B immediately. There were five Puerto Ricans on their board with 10th round value (or higher). Only one is gone. Infielders Nelson Molina and Edwin Diaz remain, as well as catchers Rene Melendez and Xavier Fernandez. I really thought Melendez would be a guy the Twins took... but after taking three catchers so far, it's less likely. The Twins have a better 1-2 QB punch (Mauer/Stewart) than the Vikings (Ponder/Cassel). The Twins have a power forward (Slegers) the Wolves could have used last year.
  16. I wondered the same thing. FWIW, the Perfect Game website was down almost the entire first round.
  17. Ryan Eades should be on the mound tomorrow night for LSU against Oklahoma. The game will be broadcast on ESPN at 7 pm (eastern, I would assume). It will either be an elimination game for LSU or they'll be trying to punch their ticket to the CWS. The scouting report on Eades, by a coach, that is featured on BA says this:
  18. Don't see it being Boldt. Hard to say now, depending on who falls... I'd guess another pitcher.
  19. I'll keep my board the same as it was 24 hours ago: Appel, Stewart, Gray, Bryant. If Bryant is top on the board, I think McGuire re-enters discussion.
  20. I can only tell you from the Twins perspective, but if they drafted Smith, he would 100% be a first baseman. He could handle the outfield, but would be a Gold Glove first baseman.
  21. I put the dates the pitchers start on the Roster and Payroll page. I don't update it everyday, but it helps forecast.
  22. I think I should have my feedback issue taken care of (hopefully). I guess we'll find out in the near future.
  23. I think I could safely say that amjgt is my biggest fan.
  24. Extremely high praise. I've had a conversation with a scout who said if Archie Bradley was in this draft, he would be the slam-dunk choice at #1.
