A question and point over which great minds may ruminate! Since it seems that the majority of the roster will return, and that sadly includes the starting pitching, (the bullpen can easily be tweaked), and this blog seems resigned to the return of the dugout crew, where will any improvement come from? I don't see improvement offensively from Dozier, Plouffie, Escobar, Suzuki, and Shaefer. In fact all will likely regress. History would say Mauer will have a better year. Hicks is truly a wild card. Santanna, Vargas and Arcia will improve offensively based on their recognition of the strike zone. As a whole this is not a good defensive bunch. So will we repeat the -90 mantra yet again? There is an old saying about doing the same thing over and expecting a different result........ Buxton and Sano? What are the odds they join the team while the season can be salvaged? Something has to change, the Twins need a manager who is flexible, innovative, and will emphasize fundementals. Until the Twins way includes the aforementioned, the term is but a tortuous reminder of what should be. To maintain the status quo, will be an insult to the intelligence of the same fans previous posters have assured us are indeed intelligent.
