  1. That statement has been made multiple times throughout this thread. And yes, you did come off rude.
  2. This is standard procedure. Mauer is going down on the right hand of Kirby Pucket as the best Twin of all time. No way, unless a team blows up their farm system and gives good major leaguers up for Joe. The 20+ million a year is at least doubled with shirt, ticket, and food prices this guy brings in. It would be suicide to do it before the ASG of 2014. I see 99% chance they pull him back.
  3. Nice, will be there in full force. Bring a sleeping bag for the homerun marathon!
  4. I hope he can round bases better than pUnto.
  5. If we were to look at Mornie, without all of the things he has done, without the concussion OR the MVP, just look at this season. What is a 31 year old player, hitting 272, with an OPS of 800, worth on the free agent market. May I add 17 dingers and 61 RBI's in just over 400 AB's. I am not sure he is worth that 8-10 million. Now his defense I would stay is above average, but is no longer plus. I just think that this offseason, we will trade him for some young pitching or a B to B+ prospect. I would be very content trading him for guy with a #2 or 3 starter ceiling. I still love the guy and we still retire his number someday, but I see him miss on those hanging breaking balls he used to crush just way too often.
  6. Also Dice-K will be available, if he doesn't go to Japan, that is an option I would be willing to look at too. He would mesh with our 2nd basema...our shorstop of the futch...He would look good with a TC on his hat.
  7. This will never, ever happen, but how about Carlos Zambrano on a minor league, incentive based contract? The talent is there. We took a low-risk flyer on Joel Z, why not the big (slightly crazy) Z? thoughts?
  8. I agree, enough with the scrap heap pile. Speaking of scrap heap, can we all admit that something else was going on with Jason Marquis. That was a pretty quick trigger on the guy. I think they got sick of that stupid New York, go f yo motha, accent of his.
  9. bleacher report is the lousiest website. Anyone of us could post a slideshow on the website, and it would come up on a google search. How do you call someone drafted last year, at the end of the first round, a bust. That is kind of funny. Thats like calling Harrison Smith a bust because his preseason stats are only average. Like saying Robbie Hummel is a bust because he might not make the T-wolves roster. This mike rosenbaum sounds like a real elite baseball mind. P.S. he did just come out with another slide show where he had Arcia as the number one under the radar September call-up. Which if I am not mistaken, is an oxymoron.
  10. Baker will get his team option declined, and resigned for a cool 3-4 mill is my guess. I hope they make it a deal for 2-3 years, extremely incentive based. Coming off of the surgery he had, he will not be back to 100 percent until 2014 or later, why not sign him for cheap with team options in-case he comes back stronger than he was before.
  11. I see two of those starters in there. I also don't see Gibson starting in the majors. I think they take it slow with him and get him up in early June. I also see them shutting him down after 100-120 innings. Much like Strasburg, he probably won't be allowed to go full out until 2015. Only time will tell, but I think next year is a throw away year so I don't see any big time signings at pitcher. I see either the hammer and/or Span being traded for younger prospects, which I am aok with. Go Twins.
  12. Nice to see the pop up ads gone. Much easier to view. Sorry for going crazy on yo' a$$ and for posting via android device. I may add that with my android device, I still had the popup ads and that is what was driving me crazy, because I couldn't close it until the ad was completely done downloading (slow network makes for long load times). Now, the site seems to be more normal and user friendly, thanks for taking the constructive (almost bullyish) criticism.
  13. Shell out 20 + for my main man GREINKE. With his personality disorder, what better place to come than no media minnesota where he wouldn't even get recognized walking throught the plaza at Target field.
  14. The adds argument is bogus. If u want to make money, get a real job. These are the worst adds u could get. I used to come to this site multiple times a day. Now, I rarely come back. This was a forum to talk twins but you aholes have turned it into Christmas in july. When does the site go public? I would like to buy some stock since its so profitable to have ads on your site...just ask facebook. Sellouts. This sint the twins way. This website is run like slowey and valencia
  15. Keith Law espn.com chat, 1987. Terry from Atlanta: "Hey keith, love your work, Tom Glavine is having an ok season for the Braves and looks like he'll get some ROY votes. What do y think his future holds?" Klaw: "Fifth starter on a bad team, long reliever on a good one."
  16. I'm freakin out about these adds man. Plus I would like to see what time the last post was on the left side of the screen. Also what person on this site would ever, ever click on the oogie loogie add? I can see the artic cat add but oogie loogie. The whole thing is annoying.
  17. I hope we have something coming up better than Dozier. Michael or the kid we got for Liriano or Floriman should all be better options. Dozier is average defensively and below average offensively not to mention slow. Florimon can steal some bases. I feel like Florimon is Casilla w/o the constant brain farts.
  18. Agree about 8-10m is about right for Justin, just am not interested in keeping him even tho his upside for that contract could be great. 8-10 million? The guy can't hit left handed pitching? He is at best a platoon player. Parmalee will cost 14 million less, money that could be spent on a pitcher or 2. I don't understand the idea of trying to keep him. The production we can get from another average first baseman is the same, for much less money.
  19. No way do you offer him a contract. Ride him out through this contract if you can't trade him. We have the cards here. If TR can get a decent deal, then we trade him. If we can't then keep him at the 14.5 for next year. If he over performs next year, you offer him the 11.5-12 million one year deal. If he takes it, we get our Mornie, if he declines, we get a sandwich round pick. I don't think we need to go out and shop this guy hard. I also think we can shed some cash if we do trade him, if LA comes in and offers us that young pitching prospect if we pay half his 2013 salary, I jump at that. That is a great deal for us. I like the guy, but this is a business and he has not given us half of the production you need for 14.5 mil a year. He should be the most thankful Canadian in the US. We haven't wasted money on a Canadian like this since the Titanic soundtrack.
  20. Buster Olney and Keith Law are very respectable ANALYSTS. I can't see any reason why the Twins should be higher. I know we have a lot of hope for the minor league system, but the fact is we have stud outfield prospects. Which is sad because our best pro unit is also our outfield. We have 1 non outfield prospect above rookie ball and that is Rosario, and he used to be an outfielder. We need pitching and middle infield help even in the lower levels. Yet I don't see how we only get a 15 out of 30 for our finances. We have a new ballpark and plenty of revenue to go around. Unless they take into account the Cheap-ad's running the baseball team with as little money spent on payroll as possible. I am having a very down twins day:( We need to trade away anything of value and start over next year. God knows we will look for some cheap stop gaps for big-league pitching. My guess is Bartolo Colon is brought in with a minor league deal. Why not bring in Melky while were at it. We could use more outfielders. Trade Span, Morny, Carrol(for a handjob and bar of soap), and some relievers for young pitching prospects. YOur welcome Twins nation for the words of wisdom.
  21. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/8285687/mlb-future-power-rankings-2012-nos-16-30 Unfortunatley the twins have dropped from 25 to 26. I can't blame them as our farm system is void of pitching. If you could play baseball with 9 outfeilders, we would be number 1 in terms of future ratings.
  22. There have been times in Blackburn's career where he has been exceptional. He was pitcher of the month either last may or the may before that. Unfortunatly for twins us, he cant seem to find that sinking fastball consistantly enough or for the better part of the pastt five years. Pretty much since he signed the contract. Remember when we had all those young pitchers coming up from the minors with high ceilings, and they all pitched well at some point. Blackey, Baker, Liriano, Slowey, and Perkins. Yet, none of them are quality starters now. Whether it be injury, babyness (Perkins and Slowey), doucheness (Slowey), or Nerves of wet paper (Franky Freakout), something went south. Don't even get me started on the young arms in the farm system, tommy j-bone much.
  23. What is the point of promoting fast? I can see the downside. Downside: Have to pay a player when he gets to Majors faster and is arbitration eligible faster.
  24. Twins training staff does it again. When I think of twins training staff I think of those doctors you hear about sometimes in the news that weren't actually doctors. The ones who somehow got into the hospital and started prescribing meds and before they knew it they were full fledged doctors, without the training. Thats what I think of.
