  1. I am thinking if the Twins would probably need one of them and another B prospect. Sano and Buxton are both A prospects. I personally would NOT like to see either of them traded for Price. He would pretty much be a rental as their is little chance we could afford to bring him back. He is going to get the biggest contract ever given to a right handed pitcher. He is better and younger than Greinke (also no psychological issues). The Yankees and the Dodgers are going to bid so hard for this guy that the national guards of New York and California are going to get called in. I'll take my chances with developing Sano slowly and Buxton at a little faster pace. P.S. I would love to have multiple paragraphs, but the enter does not work while using explorer.
  2. Great idea. Seth could do a "Twins Minor League Rehabber of the Month." Once a month you could check in on all the guys and how they are coming along off of Tommy John's.
  3. Article from ba: Led By Miguel Sano, Fort Myers Stands As April's Top Team - BaseballAmerica.com Spoiler Alert, it is the Miracle. Good story about Sano as well.
  4. Here I thought it was a banana
  5. Totally agree with you. The number 3 and 4 picks are kind of conundrums. This draft has two great college arms and everybody else. On his podcast a few weeks ago, Law and a guy from Fox Sports talked about tiers. The first tier had Gray and Appel, the second tier is very fluid. I realized after I posted the Bryant vs. Stewart post that Jeremy literally posted the same thing yesterday in another thread. I know I didn't read it so I am going to go ahead and pat myself on the back for having an opinion that one of the great draft analyzers has. (Or I did read it and plagiarized his take)
  6. I am going to have to disagree and say Bryant or Stewart. I know the Twins brass doesn't take high school pitchers, but they have broken from their "old ways" the last few years. I think Bryant is going to be an exceptional hitter. Think Prince Fielder behind Miguel Cabrera (Bryant Behind Sano).
  7. So glad that baseballamerica shows these chats for free. As far as the Twins draft goes, I have been thinking for awhile that the Twins will take either Stewart or Bryant, whichever one the Rockies don't take. I don't see Manea being an option because of the injury and such. Bryant's bat should be impactful/center of the lineup quality. I know we have Sano and other light fielding hitters, but I don't think you can have too many impact bats. Stewart scares me a little as RH HS pitchers are a little risky. He also has some leverage with Texas A & M. I just don't feel it. I know it is still early, but BPA might be Bryant and the Twins might jump on him. We had plenty of OF'ers last year and took Buxton. How did that work out?
  8. This thread = Jizzing in my pants.
  9. Vargas and Harrison. One of those two will hopefully make it up as a DH prospect. A DH can come from anywhere. A combination of Arcia/Vargas/Harrison/Sano for outfield/firstbase/DH would have a lot of power potential.
  10. Or you could wait until after you watch the game before you go Twinsdaily.com. Just a thought. I tried this with ESPN.com (because I record my Lynx games because they usually play at 10 AM), and they said no. So now I watch my Lynx...THEN to go to espn.com: Genius!
  11. How funny is it that they are done with there high school season, and most of the kids in North Dakota have not had a game. Our kids have practiced outside about 5 times. Dumb.
  12. This is a nice thread you can look back to and say: "I told you so" when Correia struggles.
  13. The good thing about trading Mornie is this: if Parmalee fails, we can always slip Mauer in there a little sooner. No way he sticks behind the plate for the duration of the contract. I know he has caught well this summer, but he is going to move over to first eventually.
  14. Sano is probably closer to 23 than 20. This has to factor in to the Twins moving him. He will be in New Britain after his all-star game. Then see how AA goes before giving him a September call up. Heck, the Twins could still be in the hunt for a playoff spot by then. I don't think he has to be added to the 40 man roster until after next season so I think they take it slow with the guy.
  15. Should all stadiums North of the Mason Dixie line...nay...north of Kentucky, have a roof? This is getting ridiculous.
  16. HAha. You guys beat me to the rage against bleacherreport. It is by far the worst thing on the web. But they must have someone working there that is related to someone working at google; I say this because 8 of the top 10 items on all sports searches are from bleacherreport.com. That and every article is written by some yack off living in his parents basement. "Top 10 reasons the Twins will be better than last year." They should write more about "Top 10 reasons I don't get laid: number 1: I write stories on bleacherreport.com"
  17. I might be misreading or not understanding your post. Are you saying that there are not a lot of sure fire prospects internationally...or that there are not others that work out? I look at the current syatem and see it a lot like the draft...crapshoot. I agree not to spend money just because but...the more money you throw out into the international market...the more fish you hook. Just look at the top prospects in baseball. In fact you wouod find it hard to find a decent SS prospect who is not a latin american player today.
  18. No way we get any of these guys in a trade. You are right, we may be overlooking Hanson, but he is unattainable in my estimation. I think a straight up trade Hanson for Willingham would be great for the Twins. Cole is a top 5 prospect who went ahead of Bundy and hits upper 90's consistently. He is probably one of the best pitching prospects in the past 10-20 years. Tallion is also a front line type starter and has no chance of being traded. Henson is a stud at a premium position and he would be great get. I think Heredia and a B- to C prospect is the more realistic option. Willingham just doesn't have the value that even Span and Revere had. We get so overzealous on this site with trades. I thought the haul for Revere was great and I was even hypothesizing the trade for Meyer - Span at the trade deadline last offseason. The best time to trade Willingham will probably be July, but I think we will be disappointed in the results. MI, pitching, or keep him, that is what I would say as a GM.
  19. I don't know if I agree with the Astros strategy. The Twins could still go with the best player available at #4 and not have to go over the 4.5 mil. 1.2 million for the second pick is still a lot and could take bpa. The strategy the Astros used last year worked out ok. But would you rather have the young Puerto Rican SS (Correa) at 1; whom they signed for well below slot; and the high school pitcher they got second (McCullers) for above slot -- OR -- Byron Buxton for slot and J.O. Berrios for about slot. I think the Twins strategy will pay off in the long run. Sure the 'stros looked smart then, but the Twins got two pretty legit players as well. I am guessing that we will look back at that draft and think about how foolish the Astros were for passing on Buxton AND Appel (even if they draft him this year).
  20. Awesome article. Nice to know some names before we get to that July signing day. I think a draft would add some extra excitement to the process.
  21. I didn't see the Lefty from UM on the list or the list of players close. Windle was not listed. It sure looks like he will be available for our second pick. As far as Manaea goes, I know it is early but he might be a close to a lock for the twins at 4. Gray and Appel will be gone. Now I'm not saying he will be available by the Twins pick, I just don't think the Twins would pass on the Manaea if he did slip, which i think he will.
  22. Because they don't want to be on the hook for a broken hip surgery.
  23. Steroid era is going to be tough for voters. Only shoe in I see are ken grif jr, none other really come to mind. Its hard to know who did or didnt use. Heck even jr. May have. The fact that we pettitte did makes him an easy NO brainer.
  24. Not sure who had Miguel Sano, so I will post this and then you can copy paste it to your prospect page: This is a great article about Sano's ten game hitting streak. It was posted on milb.com: Sano's slam runs Miracle streak to 12 | MiLB.com News | The Official Site of Minor League Baseball
