    More of a crapshoot than other major sports. I am not saying its even less than a 50 percent chance you get you get a star. But in baseball a pitcher can blow out his elbow and not make the majors; a position player is 3 to 4 years away from the bigs. Alot can go wrong is what im trying to say. The royals tried this losing for winning thing and it has been iffy at best. With basebal you just do not know how a kid will handle the grind of playing every day...mentally or physically.

    Drafting top 5 is a crapshoot. Many of those guys turn out to be mediocre or dont make it to the bigs. You never punt on a season. Ever. You always try to win games. We'll see how the astros strategy works out in five years...but if any of those top guys flame out, you lost 90 games for no reason and are back at square one. You especially don't punt if have a HOF in his prime (Plouffe...jk Doumit...ok Mauer).

    Gibby ends game with CG shutout on only 93 pitches. He allowed only 3 hits. That is pretty dang impressive. Is this his last start for the Red Wings?

    I saw an article that listen a bunch ofred head football players, mostly qbs...such boomer eisison, len dawson and others. Baseball was less favorable for the gingers. I feel it is a complete crapshoot. The fact that 1.7 percent of the population is ginger makes it less likely more than any genitical factor that gingers are less athletic. Nurture vs. Nature in my opinion.

    When did rotation turn into "roto?" Is it a rotOtion? Can we call it a "rotay" instead? I know it is the internet but we are still Twin fans. I would expect this from illiterate yankee fans...but not twinkie fans. Don't even get me started on rbi('s)

    Just opened this link and saw a "Begin Slideshow" link...worst website ever. I don't care how much cred this Rosenbaum has, the fact that he is on Bleacher Report makes him a baby-killing Nazi. I take that back, he is worse. At least baby-killing Nazi's had better articles about the 1942 MLB draft. They could fit everything on one page.

    This came from Klaw chat about 30 seconds ago. I hope he is right about Stewart or Manaea. I only posted the same question about Manaea and Stewart 40 times before the program picked this one up: Question: Jim Callis said there are rumors the Twins might pop Reese McGuire at #4 and save money for later picks. Have you heard that? As a Twins fan I'm less than excited about that idea. [h=6]Klaw (1:36 PM) [/h] I have heard that, but I do not believe they would actually do it. I've heard them heavily on Stewart and think they'd be on Manaea if he were to finish strongly (and healthy). Highest I'm legitimately hearing McGuire is 6 or 9.

    I feel like this guy does not know what he is talking about. Plouffe and Parmalee are not building blocks. Also, how can you mention Hicks w/o Arcia? Buxton w/o Sano or Rosario? Frazier scare me because he I so unique. I have read multiple times that he doesn't really have an MLB comp. Plus the dude is a red head. STAY AWAY FROM REDHEADS. Challenge: Name a ginger who is at least a second division player other than Leeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww Ford?

    I agree with Manaea, Stewart or Bryant. They are almost guaranteed two have their choice of two of them. I have an eerie feeling that Bryant is going three. That leaves the Twins with, what I feel, a very difficult decision: Do you take the not so polished college lefty in Manaea, or the HS Righty. The Twins rarely take high school pitchers. If Manaea were a typical top of the draft rated college pitcher, I think they jump on him. BUT, Manaea has a lofty ceiling. He had one good summer in the Cape Cod, and has not been the same. I have not decided which one I would like. I guess I would be happy with both. I would be extremely disappointed with Frazier or Meadows. Their have been multiple reports that the Twins will take Frazier, I hope they are false reports.

    OMG you just ruined the rest of week. Like TD isn't bad enough now I will be stuck reading scouting reports on Matt Lecroy from 10 different scouts. Thanks a lot. BTW he got Gary Carter comps on a few scouting reports didn't happen

    Those stories do not make it worth it. Dazzle is not terrible imo, but should stick to being the color guy. Why on earth they switch half way through the game is beyond me. The new guy is super good and then Dazzle comes in and his voice is terrible and his stories are bad. One afternoon I got so irritated by his voice that I threw all his baseball cards away. I don't think I even had a Twin's Dan Gladden card, so it still doesn't hurt me to talk about it. Stupid Gladden always messing up my radio listening.

    Depressing thread. I think as time moves on smith will go from worst gm ever to a really bad gm. He did make some decent moves like pavano trade and his international signings. Obviously the bad outweigh the good but he wasnt a complete failure. The first hardy trade as well as signing orlando hudson worked as that team was fun to watch and finished with the best record in baseball (I think).

    I was kind of thinking Sano stays the whole year to work on 3b. I was also thinking (hoping) that Buxton gets the nod after the futures game to go down (up in the system) to Ft. Myers. Buxton is slightly old for his school grade. I want to say he will be 20 in December so maybe the Twins make an exception. The fact that he is ripping up the Midwest League may also help them break their normal approaches.
