  1. Yes he was and I didn't say that he wasn't. But Hakeem Olajuwon was the first pick and he was a hall of famer so I feel like that wasn't a terrible pick. He also won his club 2 championships so I feel it was a wash. Still would have taken Jordan but...if it is too early for Buxton, is it not to early for Gausman?
  2. I understand that losing sucks. But there is a difference between bitter and pessimism. This thread had nothing to do with money or anything like that. No GM would bring Sano up right now. His defense at third is by all accounts, above terrible but below adequate. To make a statement about money and hope is straight foolish. When the Twins are winning abain, you will be thanking them for not rushing these guys up the latter. Sano will be in New Britain this year, probably after the All-star break. I am guessing Rosarrio will also be up. If Buxton gets out of his slump (which is not really a slump), he will be up after the All-Star game as well. The past moves have shown the Twins do not value service time as much as members (me included) of this site do. Gibson is going to get called up and could be considered a super 2. There is my Pro-WE (twins) rant for today. The future is very bright mike. Your wins will come. Just don't rub our noses in the losing on every thread.
  3. So it's THEY when the Twins suck (like the last 2 years) and I bet it was WE when the Twins were winning. On the Buxton front...mike wants wins is the kind of guy who takes Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Considering the Trailblazers NEEDED a center (that would be the pitcher you are talking about), they took one. Who cares if Jordan is great? I, for one, would rather have a top 3-5 position (all positions) player than a top 20-30 pitcher.
  4. Seriously, why so bitter? Bringing up a 19 year old from A+ is down right stupid. I could list the ways but people with heads on their shoulders have already listed them on this page. I can't believe this is actually a question. Sano needs to work at 3rd base everyday in Ft. Myers, then after the allstar, he can move up to New Britain. I don't think he should be called up for September even if he is mashing at AA. Give him some time and re-assess next year.
  5. Why? You interested?
  6. Haha, if you are referring to the draft than you have no memory. Buxton was BPA and signed for 2 mil more than the 1st overall pick (which Ryan has no control over). These are the types of posts that make me want to abuse the sites rules. But I will just let it go and drop "that time of the month" jokes and pessimist jokes to myself. P.S. When are we going to get a "DISLIKE" button on this site. Or an "D' BAG POST" button.
  7. You give a guy a compliment...and he gets tossed out. Also, why did that ball get cut? He should have been out by a mile. BUT hicks was coming up so not a bad idea I guess.
  8. We should keep plouffe on bench until may and june because he is hitting his stride
  9. Mornie against lefties = my chances with Kate Upton - 15%
  10. I feel tampering in the MLB draft is ignored. Of course they know what a kid will sign for. That is how a Lance Mcullers drpped. Teams knew what it would cost to sign him. I would not doubt the front office and agents just call each other without using an untraceable phone.
  11. Posted this in another thread, so apologies for flooding the Gibson walls: I haven't seen this anywhere, but I was thinking to myself when I saw Deduno would make the start: "Is this a financial move by the Twins?" This thought made me hate myself but here is why I think this. Not for service time or any of that BS. Deduno's start will be made on the road if I am not mistaken. Could the Twins brass be thinking: "Gibson is a popular prospect whom Twins nation knows a lot about, should we wait until a home game to call him up?" Of course not every (or 98%) of Twins fans are as versed in the Farm system as we (td.com) are, but Gibby is popular. He has a spot on "Spotlight, The Next Generation" or whatever they call it. They frequently talk about him in the booth, both on radio and Television. He could bring in more ticket sales for the first start of "GIBBY's" career. Just a thought, or am I reading too many TD articles and refreshing BA.com too often?

  13. I don't think it is a bad year to have a top pick. ESPN had a story today redoing the 2003 draft and had a link to a 2002 redo. To tell you the truth, the picks are hilarious. In both drafts, the top 5's were filled with guys who never made the bigs. I feel it is less about WHO you draft, and more about WHO drafts them. The Twins do a great job of developing high school hitters, so why not go with what you know you can have success at?
  14. But do you want to callup colabello before his super two status is over?
  15. Holy colabello! When does a prospect make you call him up? Sure he is 29 but we may have a Chris Coste situation on our hands (If you havent read "33 year old rookie," I would suggest doing so)
  16. Im sure glad I dont have to make the decision. Thhe risk with pitchers is so high. I would have taken Appel last year at 2. After about a year I am very happy with buxton. Do we need pitching? Yes. Does everyone need oitching yes. But if you can draft an impact bat who will be around for 10 years in your system...dont you have too. On another note, I dont know how I like the laid back demeanor of Manaea.
  17. Geez hicks has a cannon. Btw has anyone else checked the milb website 34 times tonight? I wish I couldwake up and it would be ETA: 2014
  18. Did laird just nick punto into first...
  19. This, although Frazier's uniqueness has grown on me as of late. Damn YouTube!
  20. Wasn't trolling, just saying, if they kept Gibby down for monetary reasons, why did they not keep Hicks and Arcia down for the same reasons? I don't know what is best for the team but the "Twins way" of cautiously moving prospects up is the right way to go. Gibson more than likely will get the starting nod so the point is mute. If it was "all about the money," they would wait until after he would be eligible for super 2. Also I love calling out the Yankees because the Bronx sux, it smells like piss, and YES network can **** ** **** (insert your own expletives!)
  21. Can Hicks stay up if he stays around .150 all year? Honest question?
  22. Gibson has not pitched well enough to deserve a promotion until the last week or so. His first complete game was against the worst hitting team in all of the minors (and possibly some college teams). This last game was the real deal. But if he comes out with a clunker on Thursday, he does not warrant a call up. All these people talking about saving money is redonk. Why even cheer for the Twins, move to New York, buy some pinstripes, and spend 500 dollars for an upper deck ticket if you want your team to spend 800 million dollars/year. They are not doing a disservice to Gibby by keeping him down, they are doing what is best for the team and him.
  23. A few things, I am also a Mauer bo-bo. I don't understand the need to hate a guy just because he doesn't hit homeruns. He did have one injury ridden season but it was nothing he could control. Second, you guys are very good on the radio. No offense, but I listen to the podcast to hear Twins talk. On the radio, you mostly talk Twins talk, the podcast portion, with all story telling and such, not so much. If I wanted to hear commentary about life I would DVR the view and listen to that. Just sayin'. Love the podcast, and especially enjoy the minor league portion. Thank you and keep 'em comin'.
  24. You are right. Hitting has everything to do with leadership, how the pitcher is doing, and trying hard. They have it in them to hit, they just aren't being leaders right now. Cliché much?
