  1. I don't have insider. Does Klaw think Romero will be a starting pitcher or a dominant closer? He has the short stature that we often heard about when he discussed Berrios.
  2. Arrieta probably comes with fewer years.
  3. Really isn't surprising that we aren't going to get Darvish. Pohlads were never going to spend that kind of money.
  4. No. At 22, Sano finished third in ROY voting and put up a 149 OPS+. At 22, Rooker spent time between rookie ball and high A ball. Rooker could put up a few Cuddyer with the bat type years while Sano will win HR titles.
  5. I believe Sickels and Mayo both thought he could stick with work. Klaw liked his bat enough even if he switched.
  6. Sano beats Mouse is oWAR now, despite playing in few games. He's younger. I'd bet much, much more on him over the next four years than Mouse. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sanomi01.shtml https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/moustmi01.shtml Archer has played in the AL East but it's not what it used to be and he also happens to pitch in one of the friendliest pitchers park in the majors and has had amazing defenders behind him. Kevin Kiermaier could be better than Buxton some years. His era in Baltimore and Boston, for example, is well over 6.50 and 7.00, respectively. Darvish has been nearly twice the pitcher the last two years despite coming back from TJ and having to pitch fewer innings. And yes, I'd rather have Sano and not have Archer, regardless.
  7. Yeah, the top half of that list - remember, both Meyer and Stewart had ace labels - was incredible. Burdi is out but the rest are still in the org is some capacity. Our current group certainly doesn't have anything like that upside but we do have solid depth. IIRC, 11 different players in 2014 and 2015 made someones top 100 list.
  8. Darvish and Sano and it's not even close. Moutakas is a bad third baseman now. Archer has been worth 3 WAR the last two seasons combined. Sano is cheaper than all three guys mentioned. He has higher upside than Moustakas.
  9. Incidently, how cool is it that Vlad's kid has an 80 grade hit tool? I'm really going to enjoy watching him, just like I loved watching his dad. Also, this makes me feel incredibly old.
  10. Thom (MN): Thanks for everything that goes into this! It’s why a lot of us subscribe! I’m curious as This varies significantly from your Top 10 lists. The Twins organization alone doesn’t seem to have anybody in the same spot as the top 10 vs too 100... Why is that? Josh Norris: With the Twins, it's a case of the margin between No. 2 and, say, No. 8, being razor thin. You could easily flop the two and it wouldn't look out of order.
  11. From the chat - Michael (Dayton): Will there be a follow up just missed article? If so can we get a preview of a few names? Josh Norris: Yes, yes there will be. Usually we do an "Also Getting Votes" type of thing where we list everybody who ranked in our personal Top 150s. As for a couple of names, how about Twins RHP Brusdar Graterol and Yankees RHP Luis Medina? Those two have tremendous ceilings.
  12. There are ways to improve pitching that don't include getting rid of our primary offensive threat. It's not either/or. Sano should be a cornerstone of our team for the next four years.
  13. Nice to see Lewis that high and ahead of Greene, McKay, Wright and Gore. I was surprised to see Rooker on the list so that's a good sign as well. Seems like the idea that we have one elite prospect (Lewis) and then a strong depth behind him seems right. I would expect that some of the upcoming lists will include Romero and Baddoo occasionally, as well.
  14. I like that idea but I think they go with a cheaper option at QB - maybe bring back Keenum or Bradford or Teddy - and spend money on the rest of the roster. But if they don't improve the OL, they better get a mobile QB. I'm hoping Hunter makes a big jump next year. He has all the talent in the world, he could be a huge force if he was more consistent.
  15. The team has a good core to build around, no need to over-react to one bad loss. They need to get a good offensive line though. It'll be nice to see the team with Cook back.
  16. I think that's a little over the top. Sickels had him #2, with a B+. I expect him to be on most top 100 lists. Right now, I think the only team lists that have come out for the Twins are BA and Sickels, correct?
  17. Sano is the better player, he's also cheaper and younger. So, yeah. We could do that. I'm sure Falvey would fire Lavine a moment or two later though.
  18. It could be possible that the teams view Archer less than we do, too. He has managed 3 WAR over the last 400ip. You have to pretty convinced about fip to think he's an ace.
  19. Probably one top 50 prospect and another top 100 prospect + two solid pieces to go with it. Rays 40 man is full and per BA, they have a solid system but lack pitching "on the immediate horizon." They also lack catching depth. So if you assume they want pitching but don't want to clog up their 40 man roster with all of these guys, maybe they'd want Romero and Gonsalves (both top 100 arms, both on 40 man) + Graterol (biggest upside pitcher we have, not on 40 man yet, good lottery pick) and Enlow (first round talent in last draft, huge upside, not on 40 man)? Would probably depend on how Rays view Gonsalves and Romero. We've seen some pretty wide opinions on those two so far in early prospect rankings this year but both are probably top 100 as opposed to top 50 types. Do the other higher end pieces move the needle enough? I think Lewis is the Twins only consensus top 50 prospect and he's probably top 25, bordering on elite. Twins won't trade him. But they have arguably another 6 or 7 guys that will make someone's top 100 list this offseason.
  20. My guess is that we have a top 10 system right now but not top 5. A year from now, it might be top 5.
  21. A few reasons but the main one is that contract is pretty good. His era and era+ aren't anything great but people who like fip like him a lot more. I think there's probably a middle ground but I don't think Archer is an ace like some do. But if you're the Rays, you're demanding a big return because supply/demand favors you and his contract is reasonable enough that they don't have to move him.
