    That results in both a 13 man staff and a 7 man bullpen. If you're going to have a 7 man bullpen, I'd prefer the benefits of a 12 man staff and a four man bench. "Stacking" just doesn't work.

    No...I'm going to have to push back here. Whether or not the final authority to sign Sano required approval from above...and I hope it didn't, we're talking about a rather small amount of money in the big scheme of things...the decision to devote a large portion of the international budget to one person was certainly Smith's. And I, for one, do not believe that decision would have been the same under Ryan. The underling's work would have been the same. But not the decision.

    I’m not sure I follow the logic...make it cheaper for west coast teams? How does that help the Twins?

    1. So you’re complaining about the Pohlads short changing the team, while simultaneously complaining about them spending $14m? 2. Your point seems to be morphing. You dont want them to “waste” $14m now, so that they are better able to waste it later? 3. If the players we bring up from A ball actually DO prove they can play st a high level, they will go somewhere else. We’ll essentially be just a farm team for they Yankees...our minor league development will be done at the big league level, and once that’s done in three or four years, we’ll get two tears of production...same as we have for Cruz, if we want.

    Given the suspension was 2013, with no positive tests since, yes. I think it can be forgotten.

    Your arguments about rushing minor leaguers, or not rushing them, are opinions, and you are certainly entitled to them. But your argument about saving money for future years is demonstrably false, both through history and through the direct statements of the team itself. They don’t put available payroll in a rainy day account. Either it’s spent this season, or it’s gone.

    I think Romero will be in the pen to start 2019, and I think that is a great plan.

    what possible delay to a rebuild could this signing cause? Whether or not the Twins cam contend in 2019, or should be "rebuilding", this one yr, very tradable contract hurts absolutely nothing. The alternative is money in ownership's pocket.
