  1. Personally, I have no idea if Dougie Baseball is a good manager. I'm intrigued by him taking over here mid-season because I want to find out. 1) The country club only hires from within it seems, so odds are he'll be in the 2017 mix if Molitor is gone. 2) Unlike Molitor, he at least has managerial experience
  2. If Grossman can play any lick of CF I would welcome him into the lineup until they decide to call Buxton back up
  3. I was just typing up... can I choose none of the above? Polanco 1, Mauer 2
  4. Bingo. "Vets" are allowed to struggle, young guys have the threat of demotion hagning over their head during each at bat/ start. Buxton never got more than 4 starts in a row, Meyer got 4 innings, Berrios 4 starts, Kepler's 1 start in 10 days was vs a lefty. It's just an absurd way to handle the future cornerstones
  5. His batting line since 2015 began. .2241/.247/.301. He has a worse OPS since 2015 than Buxton does in the Majors. There seems to be a case with him where perception does not meet reality. And I would say it largely has to do with how the team treats him, like you point out . He plays every day, hell, he led off or hit 2nd multiple times this year.
  6. Miguel Sano Fangraphs --> Game Logs --> April 18 to May 18 AVG OBP SLG wOBA wRC+ 252 .345 .495 .361 130 That is quite the "tanking" job... he needs to "Get the Rosario treatment"?
  7. The Braves are rebuilding, that's smart. The Twins are...... Who freaking knows
  8. Buxton started 15 games this season before being sent to AAA. Berrios started 4, Meyer 1. No one is denying they were a bad 15, 4 or 1 games. The question is, why weren't they given more time, since the replacement options are just as bad or even worse Edit* He actually only started 12 games (1 of these I have listed as a start he came off the bench in the 1st inning, can't remember which game it was) Game Log Started 4 Games Sat 1 Started 3 Sat 3 Started 3 Sat 1 Started 2 Sat 1 Started 1 Yup - he SURE got plenty of chances this season to get in a rhythm and learn to hit ML pitching
  9. I think through FA / Trades they'll need a Corner outfielder (Rosario is a 4th OFer for me), Catcher, Probably a couple relief pitchers, and a Starter. I don't expect Plouffe or Nolasco to be back, and would lean Dozier and Arcia being gone as well.
  10. Buxton hasn't been in MN in a month, so I'm not sure how that explains why Grossman is here. Miguel Sano has an .850 OPS over the past month. In what way does he compare to Rosario?
  11. Francisco Lindor had a 67 wRC+ and a .246/.280/.331 line through his 1st month in the Bigs. Sure, Buxton struck out wayyy too often, but I would say its fair to ask, why were the Indians willing to let Lindor learn on the job, while the Twins don't have any interest in that (Buxton, Berrios, Meyer, etc.). Just a guess, but the Indians probably knew they didn't have better internal options (Pretty clear the Twins don't as well, for the 3 prospects listed above), and knew Lindor would figure it out because he's a super talented kid, who might learn from his ML manager, hitting coach, etc more than he would in AAA.
  12. You think the Twins are going to pay Mauer > $60 million to not play for them? Okkkkk You think they are going to release Hughes before the extension they signed him too even BEGINS? I would not hold your breath (nor should they do either of those moves)
  13. I guess we'll have to disagree on Santana, I don't see anything to suggest he's capable of becoming a useful player. He was never particularly good throughout his minor league career, and that's when he played SS (where hitting isn't quite as important as OF) I'm not the biggest Dozier fan, and could be put in the camp "trade him if he brings back useful pieces" to open up 2B for Polanco... but I'm not sure lumping him in with Santana is fair. Even Dozier's poor 2016 is quite a bit better than Santana, and he has a track record of being an above avg second baseman.
  14. Byron Buxton (who was rushed to the majors and clearly looked not ready) has a higher Major League OPS than Danny Santana since the start of 2015. You think Danny Santana is better defensively in CF than Buxton? We must be watching different games...
  15. To just remove WAR from the equation, this is Danny Santana's batting line since 2015 began; .221/.244/.299 And I think most of us can agree Buxton would be quite the upgrade defensively. I can't see an argument for this team winning games now (since Molitor said the season isn't over) with Santana playing every day. Waiting a few weeks for Buxton is fine, but when he is up, he should be in the lineup every single day
  16. I said beginning of June... stretch that to June 15th if you want to give those guys a few more weeks. Remember to consider the alternatives... Buxton in lineup replacing Danny Santana who has been the worst player by WAR in baseball since 2015 started. Kepler in lineup every day instead of Arcia or Plouffe (in my "trying to win every game" lineup, Sano plays 3b vs righties, Arcia RF and Kepler LF... Arcia sits vs lefties, Sano in RF)... Plouffe vs righties and Arcia vs lefties on the bench takes out like a .630ops hitter. Berrios in rotation instead of Pat Dean... May would also be in this rotation instead of Hughes These aren't good players being replaced....
  17. Right - my problem with the quote wasn't that he said they weren't giving up and the season isn't over... it was that he followed up with a; why would i play young guys, its not a time for them to learn... implying those young guys aren't capable of helping this team. If I was drawing up the best possible lineup for say, the month of June on, to try and win games... I'd probably have Kepler, Polanco, Buxton, Berrios... why be dismissive of these guys, if he hasn't noticed the vets on this team haven't been very successful
  18. Buxton started 15 games I believe. I don't think that's exactly what he meant by... "gain experience, let them take their lumps".
  19. Not on bWAR (and not really even close). -1.1 for Sanoval since start of 2015 -3 for Danny Santana
  20. Using bWAR I think he's absolute worst. VMart, Hanley have both been positive WAR guys this year, while Danny has racked up a negative .4, which is impressive since he spent time on the DL, limiting his opportunities to cost his team wins
  21. Actually, by WAR since start of 2015 I believe he is. But please, expound further
  22. I'm at the point of not even wanting Buxton up here. This freaking manager will have him platooning with the worst player in baseball, Danny Santana. And he'll just head back down to Rochester after a 1-10 3 game series anyways
  23. Umm he hit .240/.277/.349 and had an OPS+ of 71 last year. I'm not sure where you got those numbers. But I'm happy he has hit a few home runs in AAA as he approaches 26 as a DH
  24. I know you are just being sarcastic, but I'd still roll the dice with Tonkin or Pressly before letting Pat Freaking Dean throw his 85th-90th pitches
