  1. How are you wasting Roden's service time by having him up here over Fedko. You need 13 players that can play. And he was not called up to spell Buxton because he didn't play when he was out. This issue is more about roster mismanagement than one player.
  2. And this is the problem, when you are playing with a shorter bench vs years past you need 13 players that can contribute. The roster construction and the philosophy behind it keeps putting the team in a tough spot. Yesterday was a great example, you asked a player who hasn't had an AB in 12 days to come in and try to contribute. It doesn't matter the name, that is not putting the player in the best position to be successful. There was no reason not to play Fedko a couple of the games Buxtpm was out, Kreidler does not show a clear advantage defensively over Fedko in CF and it weakened another position. I thought they moved Luke off of 2B because of defense. They are not consistent in this regard. I am trying to enjoy the weekend series win because it was great. But I want more, I want a team that can consistently win. And this team is no different than years past right now, they are going to struggle to be anything other than a .500 team at best with the flaws they have. I feel the front office is influencing a lot of these decisions and until Zoll is gone or a new head of baseball is brought in we are not going to have a clear consistent plan of what this team wants to do to be a winning team.
  3. If he can't contribute to a winning team then he should not have been called up. He had no chance ever to earn playing time. I am not saying he could be a productive player or not. There are countless stories of players with similar coming up and having some success even for a limited time. So just to write him off because he spent six years in the minors then again why call him up. You need to use your whole roster, this is not a team of stars, there were opportunities to get him some playing time. They played Gray ahead of him, don't tell me he couldn't have started a couple of games in CF with Buck out. It seems awfully like a knee jerk reaction to write him off after 17 plate appearances. This team will try anyone with a pulse on the mound but on the position side, I am not sure what their criteria is.
  4. I think Kreidler was adequate in CF but by putting him there you had Gray at SS. So what is the better defensive alignment Gray and Kreidler or Kriedler at SS and Fedko in CF. I am not necessarily a proponent of Fedko but I do feel his production in St. Paul earned him a call. And if you bring somebody up they should be given some opportunity. And the opportunity was there with Buxton out for a few days. And it's not like we have All Stars at every position that you can't give somebody a day off to give him some AB's. My main frustration was asking him to go into yesterday's game basically unprepared. He hadn't had a plate appearance in 12 games. That is poor roster management and you need to keep all players sharp. This is something TK did really well.
  5. There were opportunities to play him in CF when Buxton was out. That was a real missed opportunity and now moving forward who knows where the opportunity will come from. But a good manager keeps all his players sharp and can find playing time for everyone.
  6. He hasn't had an AB in 12 games, of course he is pressing. And in a total of 17 plate appearances you can conclude he is chasing garbage. I actually thought he had some good AB's until yesterday.
  7. I am curious how you came to this conclusion. He has started 3 games in 3 weeks. He has come into the game primarily in the 8th inning usually as a pinch runner. How does he earn playing time in this scenario. This to me isn't about Fedko about the usage of a roster spot but to say he hasn't earned playing time when he hasn't even been given any kind of shot is really unusual.
  8. If they are not going to use him then yes he needs to go back to St. Paul. I am not sure if we know anything about whether he can play up or here not. He started 3 games in 3 weeks and hadn't had a plate appearance in 12 days until today. Why do you use up a 40 man spot for him and then not even use him. He did deserve some playing time, whether he would have flopped or not no one knows. This is just poor roster management, this organization really has no plan.
  9. So if he plays you tell him to jog around the bases and after every fly ball. It was the first inning, you are trying to score runs, I am not sure why this shouldn't have been done or why it is so careless. If a player plays they have to play at 100% effort.
  10. I agree, I want the goal to be to get or develop a closer. I am not expecting it at the deadline. I am not sure that Zoll wants this as I don't trust him either. My fear if he sticks in this job is he will continue the bullpen nonsense we have seen this year.
  11. Or a good shut down closer and set up man regardless of what side they throw from.
  12. The Twins have actually been the ones holding Buck back, their doctors are making the decision. Buck is not saying he can't go most times.
  13. Hopefully they also get of the thought that they need a pinch runner and defensive replacement role and utilize every player on the roster.
  14. I want this team to be the best version they can be for the season not just for one series. Also, please don't tell me how to react to a game, you don't know me well enough for that.
  15. I never said it was all on Shelton. Below is my original comment. This comment was more of an indictment on Shelton, you can't play a player every 12 days and then expect them to have a high chance of success when needed. Just keep giving your thumbs down, that works better for you.
  16. Try something new called Google. The television announcers for the Twins vs. Yankees game today on NBCSN and Peacock are Cory Provus on play-by-play, alongside color analysts Adam Ottavino and Anthony Recke
  17. To follow up, Fedko hasn't started a game or a plate appearance in 12 days, how do you expect him to perform. Of course he is going to try and make something happen. This is poor roster management by Zoll and Shelton.
  18. Recker is the second analyst, Ottavino has been the main analyst today. They are offering a perspective from each team.
  19. This is on Peacock today, not TwinsTV. Recker is the second analyst who has been contributing some, but mostly it has been Ottavino.
  20. Part of this is on Shelton for not giving him some more opportunities especially when Buxton was hurt. This is what Kelly did well, he kept the bench guys sharp by getting them in the lineup on a semi regular basis. So they were ready to contribute when needed. Maybe it wouldn't have helped Fedko, but he hasn't been put in a position to succeed.
  21. If they are planning on trading Jeffers, I think he will. He will need to be DFA'd or waived and I think he would be claimed. You can't count on Cardenas as your backup catcher.
